I have a 1710 XLR with 23" stainless barrel coming within a few days. I know you had some wind but I really do hope mine shoots down in the low .3" for a 10 shot group at 50 yards.

its a 54 degree bolt handle lift for match 54 action ;)
@ashleynicely10466 жыл бұрын
For the price of that rifle you could buy seventeen Savage Mark II FVs in the states, and if you put that scope on one of them you can shoot tighter groups with CCI standard velocity ammo than you're getting in this video. Ozzie, you should put high end scopes on all your rifles up for review instead of just the expensive ones. You might be surprised...and it would be fairer to the rifles...

Looks like it's based on their '54 action. One of their best. My 54 action comp rifle action was made in 1975. Still taking out comps and setting records. Dare say with a bit of a tune that factory group will improve greatly.

mike currie it is a 54 action
@mikecurrie49146 жыл бұрын
Looks exactly like mine , bolt and round action. Might have some new tweaks, but outwardly looks 54.

mike currie I love my 54 use it for prone smallbore some commentors don't understand a precision rifle cost a lot of money no matter if it is a centerfire or a rimfire. For exame a CZ452 is a cheap gun and does not hold a candle to the Anschutz 54.
@mikecurrie49146 жыл бұрын
Agreed. We have folks coming to shoot benchrest and a gun shop has sold them a 452 etc and they kind of expect to take out titles. Not going to happen I would say that most of that cost in this new Anschutz would be in the chassis. Any centerfire chassis is going to cost between 1500-2000 dollars. My 54 is in a Macmillan c/f stock for benchrest with a 1" straight Lilja barre,l it holds the club record at 250.17 well as State, National and World titles. That new rifle should be a killer once it's broken in and tuned and good match ammo. I'd love to try it out. And not forgetting Aussie, thanks again for a quality review mate.

It’s a Match 54 action dropped into an MDT LSS-22 chassis

Great review as always Mate. Nice and accurate, but $3,500 for any Rifle is way too rich for me. As you've said Ozzie, I'd rather buy Aussie made and get a couple of Lithgow Crossovers. Your Reviews Sold me on my 243 Lithgow and it shoots great, a 3 Shot 0.4MOA group at 200m.

Yes, I am a fan of Anschutz .22 rifles, but admittedly only for the past two years or so. I only heard about them then, as I was at my favorite Gunsmith's shop/ indoor range. It would appear that Anschutz produced some actions and barrels for other manufacturers many years ago, ( according to the imprinted branding on the barrels ) so I have bought three of these rifles so far, all bolt action, and all are as accurate as I can be. The one you have here proves the point of accuracy to be sure,...but, I wonder at the cost of that stock system, and yet, the butt stock section rattles? That would annoy me, I have to say. I am duly impressed at your range shooting/targets. I am impressed by those groups.

Thank you for a nice review. Kinda surprised that they left that rattle in the telescopic stock, but I'm unfamiliar with the design and perhaps there is no way to avoid it?
@rudyrodriguez90976 жыл бұрын
Can't figure why they would use that generic M4 buttstock on this when MDT makes some with adjustable cheek and LOP that would be much better suited to this.

I have seen you using different AMMO. Do you do old school zeroing with manual bore sighting or use an electronic or magnetic bore sight-in method ?

@ashleynicely10466 жыл бұрын
If you're trying to show the potential of 22 rifles at 50 yards in tests, you're going to need scopes in the 20 to 40 power on their top end.

Why use vrap ammo you should use target ammo

Even that accuracy it isnt worth $3500. Ive seen cheap Ruger American .22 shoot just as good for less than 1/3 the price including chassis and glass.
