How embarrassing. A $4000 rifle with a feeding issue. Unacceptable. Good on Josh for digging into this. Far too many people have had these problems with 1710's. Shame on Anschutz.

Don't know the model 1710 but the mag box looks the same as the model 54 and has 2 screw that secure it to the action if you loosen them, the whole mag holder can be adjusted I bit forward or rear wards for reliable feeding. Moving it forward and rearward changes the feeding angle from the mag. When you achieve reliable feeding fine tune to ensure it is perfect by checking the feeded bullet for shaving mark and the second bullet in the mag that the top round's rim have no scrape the soft lead of the second bullet, ect. up to the last round. Hope this helps some Annie owners.

I have used the $18 Savage mags in my Anschutz rifles for years. All it takes is a couple of minutes with a file. The 64 action Anschutz rifles had an ejection issue. A little file work on the extractor cured that.

Josh, I am a fan and this is helpful info for your audience. So far I can blame you for getting me into this addiction called rimfire precision. For now I will stick with my CZ 457 Varmint (Athlon Helos scope) and my Ruger 10/22 (heavily customized). But when (notice I did not say if) I get the Anschutz I will revisit this video. Just don't tell my wife. LOL

I bought a 1710 blue, bull barrel in the wood sporter stock as that is the class I like to shoot in. I have had no problem with the feeding of bullets.My only problem if you can call it a problem is its weight. It shoots in the high 240ies and has shot the elusive 250 once. This is off a makeshift table using bags for a rest. I can't say anything bad about my Anshutz. Your rifle must have been damaged somewhere after going through quality control. It is hard to believe it left the factory in the condition you got it? I am happy to see it wasn't something major.

Just a quick note of caution: I changed my mag release so I tried removing/bending that Magazine Guide piece. I used a vice and a pair of pliers and it snapped almost immediately. After buying a replacement, I used a portion of the broken piece to shim the new Guide and it effectively produces the same result. What kind of janky-ass Band-aide fix is that to put up with on a high-end rifle? BTW...great job on the video.

I have the exact rifle in the XLR chassis and I've found you have to be very careful loading the magazines. Also ejection has to have a little bit of force on opening. Other than that the rifle is a shooter !

It is a never ending story about the “ scraping bullit”. I still could not get it right. The washer under that magazine release. Made a tool out of an old screw driver to tighten the special nut. Eventually I just switched the follower in the magazine and it feeds now just 4 iso 5. But no more scraping 😊

Great tip 🤞it fixed the problem. Iv got one for you on ejection if you take the bolt out and place a round between the claws if it wiggles much past the 130/2 position this will cause a weak ejection Also as the claws a pressed steel make sure the corner of the extractor is 90 degrees not rounded in the corner having two of them this is the differences I found between one that was good and one that was a little bit week hope this helps.

It's looks like one of those either a bad batch of something and or stacked tolerances, could be the little tab or the stamped steel mag being slightly out of spec. You wouldn't expect it with the cost of the equipment, wonder if they are more popular with benchrest and single feed.

What is it with very expensive rimfire rifles and feed issues...didn't Vudoo also have a feed issue with one of their rifles? Lord almighty, I've owned rimfires from the cheap and old to the mid-range and new and never had a persistent issue like this. That said, glad you solved your issue.

Hay Josh. How do you find a good gunsmith? I have 4 nice rimfire bolt actions. I periodically need work done on them. The problem is, it's like a roll of the dice to find a decent gunsmith. How do you find a good gunsmith.

Ive always gotten lucky. Kenny at DPG and Jonathon at Modacam are the only gunsmiths ive dealt with and both are great

Great Josh, beautiful gun. I would really like to see a comparative test between your 1710 and the 457. I will import one of these two models here to Brazil for my 50 and 100 meter shots. I've asked this question before and you've already told me that Anschutz is the last frontier. It costs 30% more than the CZ, is it really 30% superior? Thanks

@@PursuitofAccuracy The dovetail to picatinny rail. I have an Anschutz Match 54 in an MDT chassis (same as this one, but 20 inch barrel) and I'm somewhat out of space for eye relief.It's manageable but it's like half a pic slot too close.

Sounds like you ought to send a nasty gram to anschultz. Saying we love you but really fellows you can do a lot better. at that price point, things need to work perfectly. I like your guns, but you need to make it right.
