Neither Joey nor Bryan were right about who led the attack on the Death Star. Jan Dodonna was the man who planned the attack on the Death Star, being the one who found the weakness and designed the attack force. But just to prove that Luke definitely wasn't the one who led the attack, he was Red Five. Red Leader was a man named Garven Dreis, who led the attack group that Luke joined.

To be fair, Joey did get robbed on that Star Wars question. Luke was not the rebel leader, he was just a participant in "New Hope" (he was however promoted to like General in "Empire" but they weren't attacking the Death Star then), Joey was far closer with Mon Montha...who was the rebel leader. However, if i had to say who was really the assault leader (emphasis on "assault leader" not "leader of the rebellion") it would have been Wedge Antilles.

Still wrong, Wedge was Red 2, not the leader. The Rebel Leader leading the attack on the Death Star would be Garven Dreis, Red Leader. He also was giving instructions to Gold Squadron, making him the leader of the overall attack. Could also say Jan Dodonna, the old Rebel who was giving the mission briefing and in a way was in command of the mission itself even if he wasn't in the field. Luke and Wedge simply fought in the battle.

I honestly gotta agree there. Luke wasn't the leader of rebel assault, he was one of the pilots that attacked. He was part of Red squadron of X-wings. Luke's callsign was Red 5, his squad leader was Red 1. The attack itself was commanded by General Dodona, but he was on Yavin IV Base. So I guess technicaly speaking, commanders of the attack would be Red 1 and Gold 1. I don't know the names. I love Star Wars, but I'm not that much into it to remember every character. XD Point it, Joey deserved that point... not that it would help much. XD
