Also what kind of a dumb line is we only think cows horses and pigs are a real farm. Like you better tell that to every poultry farmer in America because clearly no one told them they aren't farmers. The guy probably sat down to a bucket of fried chicken that night and didn't even realize how stupid he sounded earlier.
@minnahumble22942 жыл бұрын
The hound hunters need to realize, (not possible unless they wise up), that the days of vast tracts of virgin forest that the bugle-voiced hounds raced through tracking bear and coon are over. Those days ended probably before Faulkner stopped writing about them. The old guys could hear the hounds from miles away and tell where they were and whether they were getting hot on the scent by the tone and quality of the dogs’ wailing. It sure made for good stories. I think I will pull out a few old books in the library. In 2013 for a few months I lived down the road from a man who kennelled some Black and Tan Hounds. Their long ears are softer than velvet. I could hear their beautiful voices at night, not hunting, just doing whatever they do.
@Berkeloid02 жыл бұрын
It would've been fun to do exactly that - ranted and raved - until he got invited onto the show, then completely change persona and be all rational and start making a lot of sense. As someone else said, a lot of the same people who want to go hound hunting also don't want the government and other people coming onto their private land, so if he could get onto the show talking about trespassing he might actually convince some of his "enemies" he actually has a good point.

@na1950972 жыл бұрын
That and not monitoring/chasing the animals to control them. Turning loose a unruly pack onto property A (with permission assumedly) and allowing them to travel onto property B or C is not proper dog management. You don't know what is on property B or C; without knowing about these asshats, Morgan could have allowed a rehabber to release raccoons on his property and they would've been killed. Also, who runs down raccoons with a pack of dogs these days?! Don't get me wrong, I have an uncle who raised award winning hunting beagles. However, he had his own fenced farm, the county beagle club (own fenced hunting area), and access to hunting grounds owned by others in the hobby/other beagle clubs. He didn't just pull to the side of the road and let them loose! He also took out only a few.
@Berkeloid02 жыл бұрын
@@na195097 It does make you wonder - what would've happened if the dogs had come in and killed his whole goose flock? Are the hunters liable for damages? Would they have to pay for all the hatching eggs Morgan would've been unable to sell that season? I sure hope so but sometimes there are silly loopholes in laws that let you get out of your responsibilities (like "I was drunk and didn't know what I was doing so therefore I'm innocent").
@goldengryphon2 жыл бұрын
@@Berkeloid0 Depends on that state's laws. I know that Texas law says that any livestock animal behind reasonable protection (which could be nothing) injured by an animal that wasn't supposed to be there means the owner of the injurious animal is liable for the value of the dead animal. Not for any possible future values, though. Letting your dog get shot for killing someone else's bird, then having to pay a fine and for the dead bird means it's a lesson you only need once.

This isn't about clinging to the old ways though. Butch (the hunter) is using GPS collars. If he kept up with his dogs the old fashioned way, that would solve the problem. Instead, he feels entitled to inconvenience others for his own convenience - a clear cut case of "Boomers gunna Boomer".
@SadisticSenpai612 жыл бұрын
@@Libbathegreat Butch would be so offended by Iowa's hound hunting laws - dogs have to be kept on a lead the entire time. The only times they're allowed off a lead (legally) is when they're literally retrieving - like you shot a pheasant and you send your retriever to go get it for you. The dog goes out, gets the bird, brings it back to its owner.

Mink are semi aquatic at best, because of how efficient they are most predation occurs on land as you found out. Really interesting animals. I used to trap American Mink for conservation of my local ecology where they are an invasive species and as soon as I stopped listening to the experts, the texts etc I trapped more of them in one 1x1 sqmi area than they thought existed within the entire county. Its best to think of them as cats that swim rather than leap, soon as thats apparent dealing with passively or not is easy ;-)

I believe that the first word in the expression "private property" is sort of self-explanatory whether one is a hunter, a farmer or both. This was a funny, creative and informative video. The length of time that the Gold Shaw Farm has been in existence, 100 years or 100 days is not material to the case of the wandering hounds. Said hounds were trespassing. Video'd premise looks like a farm to me. BTW love the special names of the farm's inhabitants.
@Berkeloid02 жыл бұрын
It's sort of irrelevant too whether you're a farmer or not. Even if you're a private individual keeping a flock of birds as pets, you still don't want random dogs running around on your land endangering the safety of your animals.

Agreed Jared. Toby is a protector of their family not a trained killer. Those guys think they can go in everyone's property without permission. Their dogs treed bears and then these jerks killed the bear. Their dogs were killers not toby. Abby seems like a sweet lil angel. She will get tough like toby soon enough

Thinking back, when you come from the city, you are more territorial of your space. Maybe because people in rural areas are spaced out so far apart they like crossing the neighbor's property. Anyhoot, I still believe in respecting the lines. You're doing a great job at your farm.
@Berkeloid02 жыл бұрын
I don't think anyone would have issue in someone stepping over the boundary, but when you're entertaining yourself with your hobby on someone else's land, it's not quite the same. It's no different to entering someone's property to go swimming in their pool without permission, or grabbing their dirt bikes from out the back and riding them around their property for fun. Even if you put them back when you're done, it's just not the sort of behaviour you expect in a civilised society.
@yepperooyepperoo58002 жыл бұрын
@@Berkeloid0 I totally agree. I am from the city and don't want anyone invading my space uninvited. When I lived in a rural area, I didn't t want them on my property either.
