It is so refreshing to hear someone talk about changing their mind about wanting kids. I feel like so many people who have never wanted kids hear the whole, "Well you might change your mind in the future!" and I have a few friends who have actually decided they might want kids after thinking they wouldn't before, but I haven't really heard many people who previously wanted kids deciding they might NOT want them later on. Right now I don't really have any desire for kids, and I wouldn't rule it out completely for myself but it just doesn't feel like something I'd be disappointed about never doing so it's kind of comforting to hear that "changing your mind about kids" can go in that direction as well!

Kids are not a traditional “good return on your investment” kind of deal. I have adopted five, and I know what I am talking about, and I have a lot to say about it! Lol. They take more than they give, you love them more than they love you, etc. Ask your parents. There is also a lot at risk. Children turn out to be who they are... without regard to how you raised them. Again, ask your parents. Sometimes your kids don’t share the same values you do, for instance. It creates conflict, and makes connection at any age pretty complicated. So it is complicated. And there is “life before kids” and then “life after kids” - and that isn’t an easy transition, and can be a bitter pill. Three of my kids are “adults” now. No regrets. Usually. Lol.

As a mom of two very wanted kids, I’m glad you are mature enough to realize that (right now) it’s not for you. So many people have kids thinking that it won’t change things too much. It changes everything. And if you like your life the way it is right now (with your budget and how you spend your time), then kids aren’t for you. If in the future your priorities change, then I hope you are able to do that. Too many people go into parenthood without realizing it’s a lifelong commitment.

OH MY GOD I AM WATCHING THIS VIDEO OUT LOUD AND MY GOOGLE HOME RESPONDED TO TYLER'S QUESTION OF WHAT IS FELCHING (mortified in my own home)
@lizzlocke31304 жыл бұрын
Yeah we were in the same boat, 2016 I had just come out, and was in between part time cashier jobs and I didn't know what I wanted to do with my life, but I decided to see my therapist again, and i got anti-anxiety meds, developed a good routine, now I am a full time employee and I am saving for grad-school. We are all going throught growing pains, but it's good.

I 100% agree with everything you said!!! I mean, I feel like someone understands me/thinks how I do! Specifically, about relationships, children, religion/growing up Catholic, etc. Also, thank you for talking about mental health as well because I definitely identify with that 100% and not many people talk about this subject or counseling and how much a beautiful thing it can be. Thank you for sharing this Tyler Oakley/you are the best/love ya!!!

hey! I just wanted to say i respect the hell out of you for talking about the medication you take and the fact that you do. I personally feel like medication has this huge stigma around it especially in dealing with mental heath. I have to take antidepressants and anti- anxiety medications (not to mention am about to start trying ADHD medication for the first time) and they are sometimes the only reason I can function and get up in the morning. One day, I know i can be better with my depression/anxiety through skill building but it’s been over a year and a lot of friends have insinuated that it’s bad that i take my meds. Anyway, the normalization of getting help is extremely important to me and it felt really nice to hear someone talk about their medicine without negative connotations:)

This video made me subscribed 😊. For many reasons... 1) yes 💯 earth sucks , if we want kids we should adopt first 🥰; 2) the realness; and 3) you seem very mature , like you learn a lot and you are willing to share it !! Waiting for more content like this 😊.

What a mature and brave video. Thank you for your honesty. I've always seen you as a strong and unbothered person, so it was quite surprising to hear all of these horrible things you've been through. Thank you for the reminder that even strong people go through suffering. Please keep being politically active if that brings you joy in life - the right people will keep cheering you on as long as you're pursuing your happiness
