I can't imagine why you would get death threats. I watch your channel and get inspired. How someone could watch you and get angry is incomprehensible. I'm one of those who at 62 years old recently went on my first ever overnight backpacking trips and you are one the big inspirations for that. You and Taylor are like my heroes!

In 1975 When I was 18, I hitchhiked from New York to Georgia to hike the Appalachian trail. No tent and no water filter, and a very cheap backpack from k mart. I only made hiking to New Hampshire . Lots of mistakes but a great experience. Having done many ultra marathons . If you ever do a 50k or 50 miler . In my opinion having done races all over the US, The best j ultra races are in the Pacific Northwest in Oregon , Washington, and British Columbia, Anyway impressed you are so adventurous and your sincerity. Good luck !

Kelly Hays, when you mentioned that the Ouachita National Recreation Trail was on your "list" that just really put a smile on my face! I do love that trail and recently completed it via section hiking. I know you've got a big list of trails that you want to hike, but I'll be watching extra closely when you hit our Arkansas gems :) I hiked that Buckeye and Caney Creek loop about a month ago that you had a video on a couple years back. It was great, and thanks for your nice video on that one too! Safe journeys and happy trails --- "Toby Joe"

Happy new year Kelly! I'm so sorry you had to go thru that. Death threats are some serious stuff, and scary! And honestly, none of our business if you don't want to or can't share the details for any reason at all. Of course others here have a different opinion about that but they're just full of themselves. What they seem to forget is that KZbinrs choose to share a small portion of what goes on in their lives, and that's it. The rest is none of the viewers' business. Be safe! I know you're not called Nine Lives for nuthin', but you're down a couple already 😉 Looking forward to whatever you choose to share in 2024. ❤

Kelly Another great video that answered a lot of questions about your upcoming trips and wanted trips. I have done a few big adventures in my life, but you totally blow me away at the things you accomplish. I'll turn 71 next month but your videos continue to inspire me. Have you ever considered wilderness canoe tripping? Although I love the Appalachian Trail because of my thru hike and backpacking in general, I have a little over 27,000 canoeing miles under my belt and absolutely love it. You should try that sometime. It's a lot like luxurious backpacking because you can still be in pure wilderness, but nothing is carried on your back, it's in the canoe so you can take better food, a larger tent AND tarp, a chair, etc. I can't wait to see where and what you will be doing in 2024. Your videos are always high quality. Hike safe, Hike strong, Have fun! geek

Great video. I have to say I have enjoyed your videos since the beginning when you were putting your gear together for the AT hike. I loved seeing all the Florida hikes, so new to me. I live north of Lake Huron. My favorite hike has been around the Sleeping Giant on Lake Superior but it is better done off season to avoid the crowds. I am 74 years of age. My procedure annually has been to bike 20 kilometers north out of town (I live in an isolated bush community, a retired uranium mining town) and then stash my bike in the bush and hike north on a faint trail for an hour to a good sized lake where I keep my canoe and then paddle to my tent site where it's rare to see other people. Best wishes to all your future endeavors.

77 yr old Arkie here. My circle of friends began to shrink shortly after high school and even more so after college and then accelerated after leaving the location work environment. So solo becomes your reality. As a result, I’ve found a certain solace in being out in the back country alone. I’m much more aware and observant of my surroundings. As far as threats, most my friends with channels delay post. They post their adventures 6-8 weeks after the fact. I even have some that complete the whole hike or trip and then post it. Meanwhile they’re off on completely different projects while posting the past adventure in real time. Best to you. I live in NC now but miss North Arkansas a lot.

First off Kelly I have been a subscriber of yours for some time now. Second thing welcome home to our beautiful Ozarks. I am from South Western Mo. and I work in NWA. I have been to many of the places in your videos. I also worked in Fl back about 24 yrs ago and have been to many of the same places on my days off. I really hate that you had to deal with a death threat. I am glad everything turned out just fine in the end. What allot of people dont realize is even grown men have had threats or even physical harrasment while on trails or through social media. Im 53 now and I still get out. I use to do all my hikes, float trips and bicycle tours alone. Eventually I got married and had kids. As they grew I started them young enjoying the outdoors. My daughter was only three years old when I took her floating in my kayak for the first time. We floated from Table Rock dam in Branson Mo to her grandfathers house on Taneycomo Lake. She is now 26 and married but her and my son still hike and kayak to this day. My son and I still do allot of camping, kayaking, biking and hiking together. He is 23 but still lives at home. My wife is not as adventurous but she does do some small local hikes with me down to Arkansas to see waterfalls during rainy season. Your videos keep me going and inspired. Just a little side note, my uncle took me on a section of the John Murr Trail back in the mid 80's. You will not regret it if you get to go. Be safe out there young lady and thanks for sharing your adventures with us. The best thing I told my wife before I married her was ,Dont ever tell me I cant do the outdoor activities I love doing. I also told her you are always invited to go with me anytime. Like I said she is not that adventurous but she has never told me I couldn't. I also told her I wont ask you permission but I will let you know my plans and time periods. This has worked for both of us. I balance my time with her and my adventures. She likes being a home body so it works well. She of course feels allot better that most of my trips are with my son, or friends from work. I still get out on my own but I am aware of everything going on around me. Again welcome home.

Totally hear you on the solo travel. If you wait for other people, you'll never go. I do solo motorcycle trips all over the country. Some of my friends can't fathom doing that. I say I'm on a modern, reliable, Japanese motorcycle with a cell phone in my pocket and can defend myself, so why would I worry about riding through the rural United States when they have no problem going out to the bars at night in downtown Chicago, NYC, Memphis, etc.? Friends either don't have enough vacation time, not enough stamina, are too married, too hung over, or not of the right mindset to deal with things like weather, slight discomfort, or unexpected delays. And that's assuming they even ride. So why sit around until I'm 70 hoping someone shows up? I've met all sorts of interesting travelers and riders by just going out doing it.

I'm sorry to hear that this has happened to you but I hope you'll continue to hike and film. I really love your videos and always gain something from them. You're a gifted young lady. Great video and points. I have the same issue on a backpacking partner. Finding someone to go on adventures with you doesn't get any easier. I decided a while a go that I'm not going to sit around and wait for someone. It is enjoyable having someone to share an experience with. But, it is enjoyable solo as well. Not going to spend my life waiting on others. After leaving the Army, I thru hiked the PCT solo. After a life draining and massive time commitment of a career, I'm not putting my life on hold waiting for someone to join me on adventures. Keep at it and above all else, have fun!

I can't believe anyone would threaten you like that. You seem to be pretty cool in my book. I've been wanting to do eagle Rock loop for a while, but my hubby wants me to have someone with me and I still haven't been able to do buffalo River yet. I was going to, but my son, on his first backpacking trip, wanted to do center point trail instead. After we did the goat trail, we went back, set up camp, ate..... Then My son decided that he wanted to go 😂 so we hiked all the way back up that rocky mountain. We drove into eureka and stayed the night there. So maybe this year I'll get these two trails in. Lol. Thanks for sharing your adventures. Stay safe.

Love watching your channel. Very inspiring and naturally wholesome. I always feel relaxed and ready for a thru hike by the end of your videos 😂 thank you so much for documenting your adventures

Probably your best Q & A video! You look very happy and refreshed - happy for you. (I STILL love your segments, though, in the Franconia Ridge area and descending Mt. Washington - so moving and inspirational!) Take care, Kelly, and I hope you have a super and blessed 2024!

I don't know how up north you might get hiking, but want to turn you on to the Kal-Haven trail. At the end is Lake Michigan. It's just a 33.5 mile hike but South Haven at the lake is gorgeous in the summer.

So weird a through hiker like you has drama? Ive had haters too so I get it. Ive traveled around the world and the one thing I always do is to never post details where I sleep or live on the same day I am there. I f I go on vacation I post shorts but the full videos dont get posted until I am already back home.
