Also on Stalaggh's Projekt Misantropia, I've noticed through the years I've listened to it, they resample a lot of noises/screams/moans through out the album. When I realized that, that through me off a bit with the whole "we just pressed record and let them scream for 1+ hour"-thing. And in one part, they play a bit of improv DSBM in the middle of the album, that's the only black metal about it. The members are allegedly from the Dutch Black Metal scene.

The Silencer release is one of the best BM releases to ever come out - regardless if any of the gossip around it is true or not. But the combination of intended concept and musical realisation on this particular release is second to none, true art. And I am normally not that much into DSBM (apart from Abyssic Hate‘s Suicidal Emotions maybe 😄).

You know you're a fan of the right black metal band (in this case the Swiss solo project Paysage d'Hiver) when you realize that in 2020 they dropped THEIR DEBUT ALBUM after 20 years of activity, and earlier this year their second, labelling everything they made before not even as EPs but DEMOS!! The wonders of black metal.. and as a Swiss I would recommend the project.

Talking about Silencer, what if the rumor is right, that Nattramn doesn’t exist, maybe is just a random guy dressed like that, and Andreas Casado is the one behind the vocals as well, I mean, he’s been MIA since 2006 so it could be a possibility.

a lot of the story behind Nattramn (of Silencer) isn't true. it's medically impossible to replace your hands with pig feet, and in 2010, apparently he wrote a book that showed him with normal hands. Also, it was his brother who tried to axe a girl. The thing that Nattramn actually did was the act of committing self-harm during recordings to put agony into his vocals

I make the hypothesis that several DSBM bands would be on the raw black metal tier with all the Legions Noires kind of stuff. But I agree that depressive is more a lyrical theme than a musical approach. Forgotten Tomb is depressive, but it sounds like raw black.
@Jurgen_Wulf2 жыл бұрын
Your bm-iceberg video is really interesting and useful if you are not really invested into bm so much but interested in like "Maybe I missed some cool band 10 years ago when I was into it?" (like me, love some classics from Norway and Sweden, checking new releases from bands I liked since). And I was thinking "You can not go harsher than Les Legion Noires it would be just noise" thanks to you I know that the well goes deeper. Thanks for introducing me to Diapsiquir, that is an interesting band to check for sure (I love avant-garde and mixing genres). But some other stuff like Emit I don't know man. I recorded myself playing guitar (without knowledge how to play it) at the age of 9 with two cassette recorders. I put mic inside my dads acoustic guitar, plugged it in first tape recorder, then hit REC on the second one to record fuzzy sounds of cheap soviet mic distorting inside body of guitar (setup was like Томь-305 (was in production from the late 1970s) as a "comboamp" and nearby two-deck made in China Kawasaki (mid 80s to mid 90s maybe made), mic was МД-201(70s too). And internal mic of a chinese made two-deck Kawasaki was to pick up the sounds. Somehow THAT SHIT sounds better than some of that trve cvlt guys recorded in 1990s - 2000s. Were they recording on fucking wax cylinders made of christian babies and virgins snots? Wire maybe? Dictaphone cassettes? I just can't understand how BAND can sound worse than a random russian boy in his room recording random crap having fun with tapes.
@wyattxhim2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the first paragraph I appreciate it As for the second paragraph … im not trying to come off rude but you misunderstood what an iceberg chart is. The deeper you go doesn’t mean it’s better . It means things will get weirder and more abstract. Yes I believe that you could have made that music like Emit just like others could but end of the day you didn’t and Emit did. Thus why I talked about Emit.
@Jurgen_Wulf2 жыл бұрын
@@wyattxhim thanks for responding! Second paragraph was kinda my drunk confusion and frustration about “how the sound can be so bad, I fooled around with two cassete decks and junk microphone and that sounded more clear”. And I was writing that at night after bottle of gin (and english is not my primary language). So my apologies)

Unpopular opinion: I don't understand all the hype about Silencer either, the music was good but I just can't stand the vocals, they're so jarring and not in a good way. Silencer always felt to me more like a creepypasta/urban legend (I used to call them "The Slenderman of black metal" just to piss off my friends). Shining would be a much better example of DSBM and Niklas Kvarforth can be a truly disturbing individual at times.

Honestly for the most part 99% of NSBM would be in tier 2 (carrying the spirit) mind I’m looking at their sound and not lyrical themes. Goatmoon would be probably in either tier 2 or tier 4 (oddball) cause their folky style is pretty different Absurd is tier 2

Wyatt on Silencer: I never really cared for it either, I've always thought the vocals were a bit cartoonish..hehehe..in a way. Silencer fans: Haaaaaaaaaaark! Hark, Triton, Hark! Bellow, bid our Father, the sea king, rise from the depths, full-foul in his fury, black waves teeming with salt-foam, to smother this young mouth with pungent slime... to choke ye, engorging yer organs till ye turn blue and bloated with bilge and brine and can scream no more... only when, he, crowned in cockle shells with slithering tentacled tail and steaming beard, takes up his fell, be-finned arm-his coral-tined trident screeches banshee-like in the tempest and plunges right through yer gullet, bursting ye, a bulging bladder no more, but a blasted bloody film now-a nothing for the Harpies and the souls of dead sailors to peck and claw and feed upon, only to be lapped up and swallowed by the infinite waters of the dread emperor Himself, forgotten to any man, to any time, forgotten to any God or devil, forgotten even to the sea... for any stuff or part of Wyatt, even any scantling of your soul, is Wyatt no more, but is now itself the sea.
