Was not expecting you to bring up runescape. I Imagine you're talking about rs2 before osrs when relating to the cheap midi sound because most of the tracks were remastered. I used to go to the library to play runescape back when it was browser based and you didn't need to download anything to play it

I could definitely see Strapping Young Lad in Tier 1. Yes mostly Industrial, Death or even Classic metal, but lots of Black Metal passages, especially in Devin's vocals

Metal is really LOST on zoomers, especially in understanding the connection between politics and hype. The whole perception on metal by average zoomer is the right wing vs liberal frame. Fascism vs capitalism idiocy, where crap bands like Absurd, Arghoslent and Goatmoon are praised to no end. That's not what metal used to be back in 80s and 90s. Most of us were from left wing to moderate right and were in opposition to liberals and fascists.

My girlfriend was asked by one of her work colleagues to recommend them a metal band after they had said they had just been listening to the new Lincoln Park album. She recommended Anaal Nathrakh, I'm proud lol. Somehow, I doubt they'll ask her for another recommendation again...

Vocaloid isn't Ai it's using a real vocalist. It's a synthesizer tool. The character attached to the tool Kikiuo uses is named Miku. Yes these have names. Also Kikiuo isn't perverse. At least he's not intentionally coming across as such. His songs are about sexual abuse. Alot of his songs cover themes of abuse and self harm, death. Seriously go check out his other stuff it's great.

Its not necessarily 'disturbing', but I consider nico's second album, the marble index, to be truly unnerving and haunting. Fans of lingua ignota, Giles Corey and neofolk would probsbly love this album. It's beautiful, but deeply disquieting; nico's voice combined with the harmonium is unlike anything I've ever listened to. Apparently John cale, who produced the album, limited it originally to around half an hour, since it was making him feel suicidal. Utterly unlike anything else, esp from that time period

It all started with the Venomettes ... and some Gothic Rock Bands, like Bauhaus, sex Gang children, the Damned using a sad sounding piano, then came Dead Can Dance and in the Nursery... calling it Darkwave was essentially a german thing,,they tended to call anything Darkwave. And it was German Bands like Estampie or Goethes Erben who mixed classical music with Electronica...

Always sad not seeing Вой mentioned when talking about early funeral doom. They go head-to-head with Thergothon, having released a demo in '89 and a full length in '91, and they were DEFINITELY a funeral doom band

How I’ve heard it pronounced. Pretty petty on your behalf though to focus on 3 seconds of a 30 minute video.
@RashFever26
@RashFever26 2 күн бұрын
@@wyattxhim Then you've heard it pronounced wrong, because the title is in Latin not english. Plus it is not "petty", messing up on a major element (album titles) indicates that you didn't do the bare minimum research, therefore anything else you said may be equally wrong. So you aren't "explaining" DsO at all.

If you want blackened funeral doom like Mordor I suggest the EP Looting The Tomb Of The Aramathean… by Black Mass Of Absu, the 3rd song Trudging To Calvary sounds like a slam/brutal death metal song played at half speed while someone spams haunted house sound effects over it

The differnt styles of DSBM in the last decade have really been great for musical content for me to enjoy. Been finding some hidden gems lately on Bandcamp like Without the Sky - Reflections & Gravesinger - Hollow & Lifeless. For being a sub genre of a sub genre, it really does have quite a variety of styles.

Great call on Diapsiquir, and good comparison with Peste Noire. Both Famine and Damien/Toxik are hip hop fans so I can see the alignment especially with that 2018 KPN album (eugh...) On the lighter side of weird in black metal, check out Kekal from Indonesia. I listened to "1000 Thoughts of Violence" last night, loved it to death. Reminds me of Sigh in terms of the inclusion of melodic riffs that are even catchy, but the grimy, industrial feel, electronic parts and drum machine remind me of Diapsiquir. It's definitely not as dark and disturbing though. It's another kind of weird, I guess xD Love the alternation between the brutal and dissonant riffs (inspired by Voivod first and foremost though listening to it the first time Gorguts and Ulcerate came to mind) and the nice, melancholic and even catchy melodic black metal riffs, all alongside those surreal synths. As many musical twists and turns as it takes it's very evidently at its core a black metal album. Really good.
