As a recovering codependent, this message strikes me differently because I have to try so hard to create boundaries so I don't end up giving too much of myself to others. It was hard to hear the story about the man with the ex-girlfriend because I used to be that person that would be there for everybody else until I became so depleted that I had nothing left. That story actually exhausts me just by listening to it. I do agree that what the world needs is love and that's what everybody is seeking. But as someone who has learned the long, hard way that you have to learn to love yourself first, it's hard for me to strike that balance.

Karma is my best friend. I learned Karma in 1986, I was 10 years. I was spinning in circles with friends. We spun our Selves silly. As I laid in the grass something put the knowledge inside me. I was ten. I had no parents/adults to talk to. Then I heard Alan Watts explain Karma as Your Doing and I had a name for what I received 30 plus years earlier. No connection to any cultures that would have known anything about Karma. Some might call my type "Poor white trash" from the Midwest. I mean no disrespect using this term. Just sharing me with the language I have.

Alan this confuses me. On a previous podcast you encourage following your heart in terms of letting go of unhealthy people. I have a narcissistic relative that has led me to a toxic relationship for years and I finally stepped away. Now this podcasts makes me feel guilty. Although I know none of it is real as in the happy dream, it confounds my present reality. Not sure I even follow what I said. 🙃
