Seriously loving your channel! This channel has been so helpful! I have 10 (2 large, 7 medium, 1 small) purple pincher hermit crabs in a 90 gallon. I know thats not the ideal size tank especially since I prefer having extra space. However, I ended up getting my 10th crab unexpectedly as a old friend reached out asking if I could take her jumbo. With this being said I am trying to make the most of my tank by raising everything up that way they can make the most of the ground. I am looking to purchase a bunch of climbing decor and items to make more levels such as lizard loungers etc (idk if that makes sense.) Could you do a hermit crab decor review or haul? Talking about items that you have used, liked, and where to get them? I watched your Christmas haul and was gonna buy from CrabScapeCreations until I realised that they closed their shop. Thank you so much for supporting proper hermit crab care!

I LOVE your earrings. I have a question about food variety. I saw in an older video and in some guides about not feeding the same food within a 7 day period. Is that still accurate? I understand they need a variety within the different food groups, but having so many different things on hand and remembering what day each is fed is a bit overwhelming. How do you cycle through all the types of food each day?
@CrabCentralStation2 жыл бұрын
That is mostly during the PPDS method. After they transfer into their forever tank, they still need a variety of foods, but it doesn't have to be different foods every 7 days. We love etsy shops... dried foods are super easy and can give you tons of bmvariety on hand.
@shadowstitan2 жыл бұрын
@@CrabCentralStation Thank you for replying. That does make more sense during the PPDS method. I will have to look into the dried foods. Is fresh food still better to do than the dried foods if you are able to provide it everyday?

First off, yall are doing God's work captive breeding hermits. So happy for yall that they finally made it to land. Can't wait to see what's in store for the future of captive breeding. Secondly I'm having a issue with bugs in my tank and not being able to identify exactly what they are. Very tiny little bugs. I can't really find a whole lot of info online about how to go about identifying and removing these bugs. Would yall consider creating a video on bugs in the crabitat and how to identify and remove them. This would be awesome.

I need some help again. My female crab (Vampire Crab [Geosesarma sp.]) recently died, but she was carrying eggs. I decided to remove these eggs and collect as many as I could, and transfer them to a separate container with a land to water ratio of 50:50 since this species of crab is semi-terrestrial. I also added some anubias leaves for them, since they’re omnivores. I keep the container under a desktop lamp in my room. Judjing by you guys’ knowledge of crabs in general, is there anything I should add to ensure the safety of the baby crabs or eggs?

I love your videos! I am hoping I can get some help because I can’t find anything on this, our hermit crab molted and was down for about 6 weeks, when he popped up we were thrilled, he was active and climbing and looked so healthy And good. He spent the first night drinking a ton of fresh water and then spent the next night drinking a ton of fresh water, when we got up that next day I did a quick glance in the tank and saw him kinda hanging out of his shell, which is not uncommon for him, he never was too shy and frequently hang out with his legs out, but when I checked on him again around 1 he wAs still in the same spot and I thought that was super weird so that’s when I took a real good look at him and realized he was gone. I don’t know what could have happened to him to just randomly die on the surface 2 days after his molt when he seemed like he was thriving. Please help me understand, nothing has changed in his food or water or temp. I’m shocked he just died on the surface randomly? Has this ever happened to anyone else?
@CrabCentralStation2 жыл бұрын
Oh no! I am so sorry this happened to you! I had a crab do this as well. The only thing I could think as the cause, is that the crab just had too much damage before getting to us. The industry is horrendous! The crabs go through so much harm and their health is compromised greatly. Many times, even in the best of conditions, they can not overcome the damage.

I’m not sure why exactly, but I’m concerned for my other crab. Nothing in their tank has changed recently. But my question is if the other crab will miss or mourn the dead one, should I get a new crab, should I not? I’m not sure what to do.
@CrabCentralStation2 жыл бұрын
I’m not sure if crabs miss their passed buddies or not. I would say evaluate the tank and see if you can figure out what may have caused the death (maybe nothing on your end and just natural). For example if it could be not enough space, maybe don’t get a replacement until you can upgrade the tank. If you do replace, please consider adopting at www. LHCOS.org/adoption

Some hermit crabs are a more pale color, however, the "milky" description has me concerned. He may not have eaten his exoskeleton. Try feeding a lot of foods with calcium and chitin (egg shells, cuttlebone, cooked shrimp with the shell on, dehydrated mealworms, dehydrated crickets)
