Cylinder/overflight issue. If this comes in the number of OA's will plummet. On the one hand the CAA are pushing BLVOS and Future Flight and yet this will impact the vast number of drone flights carried out every day.

Cylinder has been one of the longest running internal disputes within RPAS at CAA. The move to SORA methodology seems to have helped those wanting to end overflight for PDARA01. There are rumours of being able to use C1 and C2 label aircraft to their intended uses, but that doesn't help many OA holders or support growth.

@@Geeksvana there must be thousands and thousands of hours of flight time and evidence to show how few accidents there have been. You wonder why SORA is required for a lot of VLOS work.

That was very interesting and informative, though maybe the barrister could have been able to speak a bit more. He sounds very useful, though hopefully I will never need him. The most important bit I picked out is that if questioned, ask the officer to say what s/he thinks you are doing wrong as opposed to getting on a high horse - and video the interaction (I had a feeling, presumably wrong, there was some terrorist law forbidding videoing the police these days). And, secondly, if arrested, say nothing until you have legal advice, and get it fast. Would have like to hear a bit more from the perspective of the hobbyist (FPV) home builder as opposed to camera drone business, but realise that is not really Geeksvana's focus. Still waiting to hear the official new rules, remote ID etc, after the consultation, the CAA seems to have gone quiet on that. Bearing in mind it is supposed to start to take effect from 2026 - I think - surprised nothing is published yet.
