Have you read Green Lantern Sleepers by Christopher J Priest? Three novels that take place a bit after Kyle gave up being Ion. It’s a great and easy read. It’s cool to see GL in a different print medium too.

A few questions : 1. What's the in-universe reason they're called "Green Lanterns"? Like, yes, Alan Scott had an actual lantern that gave his ring power, and yes the GLC power batteries do look like a lantern as a reference to that, but they're called power BATTERIES, and they channel their power through RINGS so... where did "lanterns" come from? 2. Why is only Batman forbidden from joining the Sinestro Corps for having worn a green ring previously? Cuz that's the reason we're given, but Jessica and Soranik Natu both switched corps well enough, Hal also used the yellow ring at one point, not to mention this obscure character called Sinestro. So what makes Batman's situation different? 3. Decided to get started on reading the Geoff Johns run (have to get back to that actually), but while I don't mind missing some context too much, I'm still wondering what would you consider essential to read between Hal's origin(s) and Rebirth? 4. Lastly, whenever I see anything with the lantern oaths online, the white lantern oath is pretty much always different. Are there actually multiple versions? Is there even *any* canon version or are all of them fanmade?

Batman isn't actually forbidden, in Forever Evil he is told by Sinestro himself he could join and be a truly powerful member if he embraced his fear. He "overrode" the yellow ring with his own willpower likely due to his exposure to and experience with Hal's ring. To further prove it is Batman not accepting the ring, Hal has used Sinestro's ring and is constantly asked to join. As for the White Lantern oath there is no canon oath to my personal knowledge. Only fan made ones. Same reason Larfleeze constantly seems to have a different one. People just make one up so he isn't left out of the list.

I think we need more duel ring users who can use two rings from different corps what do you think? Like Razer being a red and blue lantern. Speaking of Razer in the comics would you like him to be Red and Blue at the same time?

3:20 i have actually seen a proposed idea for kyle being him dual wielding green and blue as a way to differentiate him from the other earth lantern while not being too OP like him staying as a white lantern

Why do green lanterns always seem to die pretty easily when they have an auto shield protecting them at all times?

My guess is Worf effect at its finest. "We have to show that this new threat is, in fact, a threat, so let's have it easily pierce through all the lantern's defenses", but then *every* new threat has to be sufficiently threatening, so *all* of them get to do that, to the point you'd be forgiven for thinking the shields just don't exist anymore.

Bonus question if you have time and patience: Do you enjoy some of the Golden Age and Silver Age stories in particular? If so, could you recommend any? I don't remember if I asked before but is there a story where Alan Scott doesn't have access to his own powers and has to use a GL ring powered by will and connected to the GL Corp. Either alternative reality or temporary main continuity?

Atrocious never lost his free will to his red ring. If you are already able to control your rage you should be capable of maintaining your free will. Guy actually done this in War of the Green Lantern Corp using the red ring without becoming a mindless killing machine and even using a Star Sapphire ring with it near the end of the story.

Ok I have a question that is kinda hard to phrase, but I’m going to try. So it seems like anytime a lantern makes a construct it’s basically like they eject a string or tether of whichever color energy their corps is, then at the end of that string, there actual construct forms. Is that always the case? Like if Hal made a bazooks & fired a rocket, would the whole think have to be one long ass meds of green stuff happening, like the rocket that was fired would trail yet another streak of green that originated at the launcher which comes off the original tether from his ring or would the launcher disappear because he doesn’t need it anymore since he fired the rocket? For context I don't really read lantern books myself and usually see them appear in other books. What's the power level of an average lantern? Like how strong and tough are they, how fast do they fly, whats their effective range etc. A power ring is often referred to as the most powerful weapon in the universe, however in many stories ive read that feature lanterns, they don't seem all that impressive in the grand scheme of things. Heck it seems like all the non protagonist lanterns are kind of jobbers. If a completely average person received a lantern ring, just how powerful of a being would it make them?

What are your thoughts on a Green Lantern animated show that takes the mixing of animation styles of the spider verse but uses it to indicate how different lanterns visualize their constructs. Like, what would it actually look like if an architect like John Stewart, or an artist like Kyle used the rings. Looking forward to the live action show but I just feel like the lanterns have such untapped potential in animation.

Do you think charging the rings add anything to stories, or is it just a cheap way to add tension and to keep Lanterns from being over powered? Do we lose anything from having a Lantern that doesn’t need a charge? I know the Alpha Lanterns had their battery implanted in them, but the downsides of the Alphas were from other aspects in play.

Mostly used for tension. There was one story where Cyborg Superman could use the Phantom ring to control recently charged rings. I think in canon it is a safety precaution so that none of the GL's kill themselves trying to use to much power, could be wrong though. As for Lantern's not needing a battery Kyle didn't as Ion nor did Sodam Yat, I think he still doesn't even after losing Ion. Hal doesn't need one in Hal Jordan and the Green Lantern Corp if I remember correctly with him basically being a second willpower entity.

this isn't really a question but i been thinking of writing a dc mini-series about a cop who is chosen by a mysterious power ring called the cobblestone ring (it powered by stubbornness and a strict want to never change) we later in the book would learn that its artificial and it's creator made it to destroy the green lantern Corp after not being let in. the ring has the power to make things unchangeable like if the ring hit hal with a blast in his normal form he wouldn't be able to transform. but for a real question what ring you think you would get.

Why do you think Simon Baz has yet to get his due? He seemed to have a few moments when he was first introduced then disappeared until he shared a book with Jessica. Why do you think he is t featured as much, or even given the chance?
