“Low-maintenance friendships, NOT LOW EFFORT” really got me. I’ve been struggling forever with this, thinking maybe my standards are too high (literally just don’t be a shit person like that’s all I ask), but I’m realizing that the relationships I thought were low-maintenance were actually low effort. And not on my side. It was getting texts at 3am about how my friend was struggling, then not hearing from them for months. I cut them off a while ago, but I’m feeling like I need to feel that void. This helped me realize that I’m trying to replace something that wasn’t real-I need to look for low-maintenance and maintain my current relationships. So thanks for your insight as always. I’m sure the timing was perfect for all of us :) 🦆

I proposed to my husband, but I had a fairly good idea he was going to say yes. We moved in together about 2 weeks after we started dating (unofficially after a week, but then officially a week after that). I remember I was sitting on the lounge thinking, "OMG I think I've find my life partner", and then he came home from work and the first thing he said to me was 'Hello life partner", so I decided right there that if he hadn't proposed within a couple of weeks, I'd just do it myself. I did, he said yes, we were married later that same year, and we've been married now for 22 years this year. :D

But, Robert's strategy to get alone time is literally how i roll as a poly introvert - telling my extrovert partners to go play with each other and let me be a hermit 😅
