I work in a lab and perform testing on post vasectomy patients to make sure the surgery worked. You'd be surprised how many don't and specimens still have live sperm.

As the fourth of six kids, I know that people always assume that there’s not enough attention to go around from parents of big families. I get where they’re coming from but I don’t think people realise how much children learn from their siblings! I know I may have gotten less attention than my eldest sister but I don’t feel any less loved. In fact I think I’m lucky I had my siblings to talk to. I had a great childhood and never felt any sort of neglect. I’m so grateful for my family and as a result I’d love a big family for myself.

I am the 6th of 9 children and I have never felt I was neglected or that there wasn't enough attention. The best part of a big family is the strong relationships that younger and older siblings form. My oldest sister has always been like a second mom to me, and even when my parents are crazy busy, there was always someone there for you. I wish more people understood what being in a big family is actually like. It's wonderful:)

It's more an issue of there not being enough money to go around. Way too many parents put their children into poverty and hardship by having more children than they can afford. That just shouldn't happen in a world where we have access to contraception and abortion.

My husband had a vasectomy 2 years before we met, had a reversal done 6 months after we were married and then had a varicosele repair a year after that. 😂🙃🤦🏼‍♀️ He doesn't appear to be emotionally scarred for life. 🤷🏼‍♀️ Unfortunately after all of that we still needed to do IVF to get pregnant with my first but I'm 24 weeks and 4 days today. 💪🏼🤰🏼 I'm planning on a home birth largely because of your influence! 😊 Love your family and I'm so happy for you guys. ❤

No one could ever convince me to get my vasectomy reversed. It's a permanent form of birth control for men who don't want or are done having children. Getting it reversed is crazy. I honestly wish vasectomies were irreversible like bilateral salpingectomies and hysterectomies. Maybe then people would actually take them seriously.

I used that exact belly oil for all my pregnancies too, a friend told me about it 10 years ago when I was pregnant with my first and I've been so superstitious (kind of) and have used the same one even though there are so many new products out- and still- ZERO stretch marks. I think the main thing that contributes is gaining only what is needed for the baby (about 20-25 lbs for me at 5'7), and staying active and hydrated.

A sister for Scout would be so cute! Yes be sure to periodically get tested if you get a vasectomy! My husband’s friend had a surprise baby 10 years after he had his vasectomy it somehow grew back and shocked them all! Her oldest was 20 his was 18 & 16 talk about starting over!

I love this honest chat and I appreciate Andrew's deadpan delivery and sarcasm. We have five and we're done. My youngest is 4 and then 7,9,11,13. I prefer the 2 year age gap to the 3 year to be honest! It's all good now that our youngest is older. I have 4 girls, one boy and I know that my son (11) doesn't mind being the only boy. After a vasectomy they say you still need “protection” for an entire year. You may already know that, but if the doctor didn’t tell you, you may want to consider doing it while baby is still nursing, so you’ll be all set once he/she’s weaned (nursing provides some birth control hormonally). My husband has down right refused for the same reasons. Good job Andrew for putting Ellen ahead of your hesitancies.

I would be too worried if something went wrong with labor or delivery. I know children can die at any time and life is not guaranteed- I just couldn’t bear to have my husband do it while pregnant. I would be more okay 2 years after birth so we could make sure.

I wouldn't be surprised they have an accident in the next years. Men are being delivered the wrong information about vasectomies and it should be normalized at this point. Enough with the insane procedures on our reproductive system when there are easier methods for our partners if they are so supportive.

Fever means the body is trying to purify itself. You don't have to "do" anything except not take drugs for it. Allow the healing crisis to pass. Same goes for you.

You know what guys - i think it's super cool that you're openly talking about Andrew planning on getting a vasectomy. Some people are so unreasonable about this. It's so much easier and cheaper to sterilize a man than a woman that this debate can sometimes show how fragile some men's masculinity is. So much so that it stands in the way of common sense. I'm still very young (in university) and i think it's great that you're setting a good example :)

I agree. I got a vasectomy at 25, and it was no big deal. It was painless, and I was back at work the next day. Best decision I've ever made. Zero regrets. I recommend it to every guy.

Don't get a vasectomy!! I had my tubes tied at 22 years old after having 4 children. I didn't want to do it, but my mother in law at the time forced me!! Now I'm remarried and my husband of 15 years has no children of his own! I can't give him one! I literally feel broken! I should have had the courage to say this is my body and no I will not get my tubes tied! I'm 43 years old still hoping and praying one day we can have a miracle baby! I know you and Ellen will never get divorced!! So your situation is quite different, but if you don't want to have the feeling for the rest of your life that you are only half the man you use to be, please don't do it! Being able to have children is such a blessing and a gift! Other people can't have children for different reasons, so why break something that someone else wishes they could have! If its not broken leave it alone! True me it will haunt you the rest of your life. Just some advice no harm meant🥰

A vasectomy is nothing compared to what women go through. My hubby had one years ago. Within a couple of days he as fully recovered. No biggie. Yep, stretch marks are genetic. My hubby has them on his hips/back. He’s never been overweight and lost a lot of weigh.

We do have a name for a girl though and if it’s a boy- it’s gonna be so hard for us to agree on the name as well 😂 so I understand your frustration. For some reason boy names are just a lot more difficult to pick haha. I have five kids and had three boys and a girl and my fifth was another girl! I was def done with kids after five no matter if the last was a boy or girl. My husband did get a vasectomy.

Preganant with my fourth! The more you have the more experience that helps to raise the others! Im surprised to hear about a vasectomy bc it alters the body forever. There is research linking to changes in prostate health. Ya’ll are great parents and your kiddos are all blessed💛

Vasectomy is very safe and effective, and there's no solid evidence of it causing prostate problems. I did extensive research and wouldn't have gotten a vasectomy if I wasn't 100% sure it was safe. It's a really smart birth control option for men, and I wish it was more popular. Best decision I've ever made.

@@Mint-kj9kw That’s not a bad point but some people want to experience pregnancy and having biological children to raise from birth (hope that doesn’t sound harsh). Pregnancy is a very unique thing to experience and can’t be replicated but I also understand that a child is a child (biological or not).

You should adopt or foster. There are already hundreds of thousands of children who need loving parents. People leaving them to rot while they get IVF or fertility treatments instead is wrong.

@@joshklaver47 It's not the responsibility of people that struggle with infertility to fix the adoption issue. Everyone else is just as responsible for considering. Most people who can have kids aren't pushed towards it. I'm not against adoption. It's just ridiculous that the most empathetic response people can come up with is, "Just Adopt. It's YOUR responsibility to." Dude, my body is struggling to do the one thing It's literally meant to do. Am I allowed to want to create a child with my husband? Geeze
