I totally agree with kate when she said one of the things that you have to improve your english in a free way is be curious about the language. In my personal opinion as well, I thing that's easier when you like to explore the language, everything is easier when we love to do it.

Hi, when we lived in our home country, Hungary, our son was a toddler, and I put on the majority of cartoons in English. He could listen to a lot of content in English. He was 6, when we moved to the UK. After 4 months, he was able to speak in English in the school, better than he was expected to speak after such a short time. I am positive those English cartoons he listened in his early age was a deep foundation for him to start speaking very well after a couple of months. Anywhere you live, let your children listen to another languages. They can slip into their mind easily.
