I had the privilege in 2023 to travel with Ruben through Namibia as my guide. Ruben is an amazing guy and his family is lovely. The farm is just amazing, so quiet and beautiful! When I was living/workking in Namibia twenty years ago I lived in the countryside of Windhoek. Local people knew I loved anikmals and gifted me a baby African Wild Cat (Felix africanus). It slept with me every night . Only problem was that "Nami" supposedly liked to kill/eat chickens which I would have to pay for. I swear I paid for the same chickens many times.

I recognized that distinct Anglo-Boer Zuidafrikan accent in a heartbeat. When one remembers how long the SouthAfricans had Namibia in a stranglehold after World War I, it is easier to see why the white population survived intact. Ruben is doing brilliant job at helping to write a positive new narrative for his people moving forward.

It's heart warming to see someone who has such a love for place. Your affection for Namibia and its lifestyle is clear. I spent the first 3 years of my life in Tsumeb from the age of 6-months-old. My Dad, an American mining engineer worked at the mine beginning in 1947. I feel that a deep-seated part of me is still connected to Namibia (South West Africa in those days). I was fortunate to visit in 2010 three times as I was consulting in Angola mostly, traveling from Krabi, Thailand where I now live. The experience and travel to the Caprivi, Etosha, Skeleton Coast, Walvis Bay, Windhoek, and Sossusvlei, were the best experiences of my life. Namibia is one of the truly special places on this earth. I am enjoying your Shorts and now long-form videos. Keep them coming, please.

I spent my summers growing up on a farm where there were few playmates and none my age. When I was finished with school I moved to the big city, Los Angeles, CA. Surrounded by the glitz and glamour of Beverly Hills. The fast life, fast cars , beautiful people, I couldn’t get enough. Until recently, I even had the opportunity to work one on one for one of the most famous stars in the world and watched first hand a lifestyle and notoriety most people may read about but will never understand. I wouldn’t trade the places I’ve been, or the people I’ve met -well most of them at least, for anything in the world as they have shaped my life and made me the man I am today. Having said that I chose to give it all up for a simpler life. I moved to the desert east of Los Angeles, me and my 4 rescue dogs. Now instead of chasing after props for a photo shoot, I’ll chase after my pups camera in hand, trying to get them to smile. There are times I am lonely but not nearly as often as I once feared and remembering some of those I was once with and had trusted I’m quite thankful to be on my own path. The older I get the more I love, trust and seek the company of those with 4 legs. Those with two legs, not so much. I never appreciated the simpler country life when I had it growing up, but it’s some of my fondest memories. Ruben you seem so well adjusted to your surroundings and life. I admire you for that. One day you will find a life partner, or a right now partner. Sometimes fate makes the choice for us. I do know It takes someone with a special kindness and tenderness of the heart to love and care for the animals around us. I hope you one day find someone that sees that in you and feels the same way.

Hej Ruben. First time viewer on this format. I have seen quite a few reels. The camera really loves you. You have a very natural presence on the screen. You held your eye to the camera, "The Viewer" and that sets you apart . You really set up a personal link to your audience, and I'm impressed by that performance from a "novice", if I may call you that. You're so relaxed and comfortable. May I suggest a more local t-shirt for future times. Anything of your own calling, a local design or even Namibia is great type of thing. You don't need another country to support you. I'm saying hej from Darwin Australia and I'm pleased you have visited our wonderful country. It's somewhat more tropical than Namibia, but still quite sparsely settled. I like you. Great video Ruben. My partner’s family lived for a while in Windhoek before moving to Cape Town prior to their retirement. Have been to the Western and Eastern Cape areas of South Africa many times over the past 25 years, but never made it to Namibia. It is a beautiful country and I hope to visit there someday. Coming back to Cape Town in January 2025 for a visit (including Stellenbosch, Franschhoek, and Hermanus). Keep up the good work on your farm and wish much success in your travel company endeavors. There is nothing more special than to commune with animals. Seems like you have an ideal life. Just make sure that you feel 100% that this is what will satisfy you in your old age. I am 81. I have traveled around the world and have learned quite a bit about people. But the best relationships I've had were with my animals. All domestic but still I love my four-legged friends. Your life must be enchanting. I am surmising from your hesitant moment when asked if you were single, that you quietly said that you will find the right person and let it slide. It's 2024 and I guess many people would ask (and not because you're in your 20's; but because you're single) - - are you gay??? In 2024 it seems to be the "powerful" question asked of all single males and some females. There's nothing wrong with it; it's just that I am OLD SCHOOL...It's nobody's business if you're gay or straight. ONLY YOU NEED TO KNOW AND ONLY YOU WILL DECIDE. I live in South Africa and grew up with boys and later, young men like Ruben. I can 100% guarantee that he is not gay. We do not have the toxicity about gender and sexuality here as they have in the US. There it has been artificially hyped into something extreme and unnatural. Here we just live and do not ask things like that, because we have more important questions on our mind like climate change, etc.
