Usually, I’d say get in a relationship first, then say you love each other. Because you’re still often early days. But you guys have known each other for a long time beforehand, so it makes sense to say it even before starting an actual relationship.

🎉 Congrats! For me, we knew each other as part of a group for a year and a half-ish, dated for a week, then first I love you came out. Got engaged a few months later, then married a year after our first date. In about six weeks, we’ll be celebrating our 43rd wedding anniversary. 🥰

My fiancé and I had a very unconventional relationship start. We started talking and a few weeks later had our first date, on our first day he ended up spending the weekend at my place lol, then we were inseparable every weekend after that. 3 weeks after spending as much time together as our schedules allowed I told him I was falling in love with him and he reciprocated the feelings and then we became an official couple and 2 weeks after that we went on vacation together. We’ve been together 5 years, own a home, are raising 3 animal babies, and are getting married in 11 months. I think relationships that start a little more unconventional than usual can be some of the best ones. Happy anniversary 💕💕

You two have undeniable chemistry and the connection you have is very clear to see. It’s beautiful! I don’t necessarily believe we’re fated to find our soulmate, but I do believe some people are lucky enough to find their perfect puzzle piece. You guys have done that ❤

With my husband it was love making first, love saying second and trying to find a plausible date in retrospect third. We sort of tumbled into a relationship and as we both understood what this was, we didn't even know when the first kiss or "I love you" happened exactly 😅 Talk about your expectations and what's important to you and find your own way to celebrate your love. If big presents, romantic dates, game nights, weekend trips or "just" little acts of attention throughout the year, it has to fit you and your relationship, no one else 💞 Though we do honour our guesstimated anniversary date, we celebrate whenever we find the time. Who cares if you celebrate on the exact date, the point is taking the time with your partner, doing something you care about.

is it ok to tell someone you love them when you asked them, to be your gf/bf?....NO.. lol.... 30 years ago i saw a man across a room while my department was having a meeting . At that moment i knew i was in love, i knew he was going to be my husband one day and i knew i would love him even until after death. That day after he introduced himself to me and asked me out for coffee, at the end of that date, he looked at me and said " I know i shouldnt say this because we just had coffee , but i love you, from this day on i never want to be apart from you, will you consider being my girlfriend..... ?" ... now 30 yrs later we are still together. By the way , he says that it was love at first sight for him as well. .. so yes its ok to tell someone you love them when you feel it...., love does not choose when it comes to you, it just comes without warning.... So happy for you 2!

I just love the looks you guys give each other. So cute! Normally I'd say get in a relationship first then I love you comes later however you guys knew each other for such a long time and were great friends first so I think its completely different then. You are deciding whether to change your friendship to something more and I think you need to know you are in love to make that step

I honestly don't believe you can be in love with someone you've not lived with as a couple, married or otherwise, on a daily basis for a fair few years, because you won't know that person until you have spent time in their company where it is just the two of you chilling, doing normal things away from cameras and other people for a long period of time. I will be indirectly revealing my age, but hey ho. I met my now Husband when I was nineteen and he was twenty nine - so age differences do not mean a thing. Was it love at first sight? No, but I loved the look of him and also his temperament, so I was definitely interested. We dated, he was lead guitarist of a Local Group that became super popular in Europe but did nothing in the UK. As I got to know the social side of him we were like chalk and cheese; he was/is far more reserved than I and I, the complete opposite, thought/think once you're out and about you might as well enjoy it to the fullest. This did not deter or dent our relationship because to be honest it was not important to either of us. Where we gelled; became one; was the most important to us both because where we gelled *was* important. After four years of dating, we then moved in with each other. Was it Love? No, but there was definitely a strong foundation for things to move forward in a positive way. We had already had a deep discussion on what we wanted from a future together, so were on the same page in that respect and I think that that is important if you are wanting to move forward in a relationship. Knowing where you both stand and that if there are any differences these can be overcome/accepted in time. Eight years into the relationship we decide to get engaged, well, *I* decided to get engaged because Hubby had been asking me to marry him for about six of them LOL! Was it Love? Yes. Was it true love, the "I would die for you Love"? No. My "I would die for you Love" for my Hubby; when I realised I could not live without him and that he was/is my Soulmate, my Life Partner; was about one year after we got married and three years after we got engaged. I believe true Love is something that is nurtured over time, experienced, embraced, forgiven. It is euphoric and it is painful and it is also just being. This for me is Love and I don't think you can get this kind of Love from a look or even just spending time with someone in a social environment 🙂

Your experience isn't everyone's experience though. I started talking to my now husband through work. He worked at head office in Chesterfield and I worked in Brighton. We spoke everyday. I had a friend that I went to uni with from Chesterfield, so I arranged to see her for the weekend and also arranged to meet hubby & others I spoke to regularly. That was end of May bank holiday. We had kissed that weekend and we were then phoning/texting each other outside of work. I came back up to Chesterfield for his birthday 2 weeks later, we said I love you, slept together and then got engaged on his birthday. He came down to see me and my family a couple of times, but we decided it made more sense for me to move up to Chesterfield as it was cheaper. I moved 13th August, 2 months after getting engaged. My parents were renewing their wedding vows for their 25th anniversary in December in Jamaica, so said we could get married then or wait a couple of years for them to save up. We decided to get married in December. We bought a house and moved in 29th November, got married 13th December and we found out I was pregnant in January. 24 years later we're still together and have a 22 (almost 23 year old) and a 17 year old. I've never felt that I wished we'd lived together for years before getting married. I never felt I didn't know him before we got married. Everybody is different and everybody loves differently. No way is better than another way. Love is love.

@@marciabigg469 If you read my post again, I was not saying my way was exclusive and the ONLY way to a good marriage or love. I was saying what I believe/don't believe and what worked for me. Congratulations on your longevity and your family.
