I'm now 75yrs old. This is the same model and year my dad had which I got to drive as a teenager. Our Healey was in bright red with black leather interior. The best thing about the car is its look and I remember buffing it up to look great. What I also remember was that one absolutely roasted driving it in summer with your legs close to the VERY heavy cast iron engine block on the other side of the firewall. Handling, particularly in the winter was really sketchy with the heavy weight of the front end trying to nose-plow you off the road if you hit any patch of ice or sand. I still like looking at Healeys at car shows but have no desire to own one. I had my fill.

Single Overhead Cam ???? WRONG WRONG WRONG. The history of this engine is interesting . It was originally designed for the 2 ton MORRIS TRUCK together with the four speed truck gearbox. 1st and reverse used to howl until you engaged 2nd through to 4th. The engine was a brilliant piece of work and had a Zenith42 VIS single carburettor on it. It was originally a 2.6 litre six cylinder with a bore of 89mm and a stroke of 89 mm Valve clearance was 12thou when hot. Fuel pump was mechanical located below the generator. The engine proved to be so good that the Austin Motor Company almagamated with Morris and hence BMC was born. In this write up, the narrator stated that it had a Single Overhead Camshaft. Totally wrong as the camshaft is situated on the side of the block , using pushrods to open and close the valves. Later. Austin engines became 2.9 litres, and sported twin SU carburettors which were a doddle to work on and easy to tune. But as for an OHC, thats a load of utter rubbish and he has no idea about the vehicle.

Yes, Ant is okay and also a good professionnel, but, for sure, it's difficult for him to take the position after Ed.
@thedefenestrator56864 жыл бұрын
The car is a '66 or '67, not a '65. The '65 was the first year of the 3000 Mk. III and it only had a single clear turn signal/marker light up front on each side. The '66 and '67 model years added an additional amber lens for separate marker light and signal light. Same goes for the rear, the '65 had a single red brake/signal lamp lens, the '66 & '67 models added an amber signal lens above the brake lamp.

i hate to be that guy, but the BJ8 MkIII started in late 64. I forget the chassis number start but the material is out there.
@thedefenestrator56862 жыл бұрын
@@sirt8684 I'll give you the start of production for the Mark III could have been before '65, as I stated, but the dual marker lamps are a dead giveaway. I own a '65 MkIII and it has two white signal marker lamps. Only the '66 and '67 model years had two front marker lights, one white that turned on with the headlights and one amber for the turn indicator.

Loved it with Edd, Ant's every bit as good if not better in front of camera. Hate the Americanisation of the programme. Brewer is still the annoying, pointless waste of space he always was! The show doesn't need Brewer, Ant could buy, fix, sell and present without him.

An auction with no reserve - have you ever been to an auction? It is a very exciting thing to sit there and have you car bid on, or to bid on something you want. They could have seen that go for 20 grand and been able to do nothing about it.
