Warren & Julie Travel - Slow Travel Nomad Expats

2 жыл бұрын

In today's video we show Antalya Turkey real estate for international house hunters. These properties are great for expats, foreigners and those interested in investing in Antalya Turkey real estate. We visit with the Real Estate team at Turkey Dar. We take a look at homes and apartments that are for sale around Antalya Turkey, and explain what they may rent for per month. If you are a potential Expat, Immigrant, or Investor this video is for you. The city of Antalya is a bustling beach city of 2,500,000, which is a popular tourist destination, as well as a year round favorite Expat location. Antalya offers a great quality of life, rich in history and popular beaches. . The average US Retiree on Social Security receives $1,550 a month, and a couple on Social Security receives over $2,500 a month. A US Expat living on Social Security can expect a great standard of living in Turkey when compared to the living costs in the US.
Currently Turkey is a tremendous value for Expats with income from abroad.

Do you want to live abroad as an Expat? Are you looking for affordable and viable options? We are exploring the world to see what it's like to live in a country, and also discover if Residency is an option.
We began our retirement in March of 2020 with the intent to travel the world, spending 1-3 months in a country or location. We want to see what it's like to live there and not simply visit, and we want to share these experiences and the costs with whoever wishes to follow along.

The minimum wage now in Antalya is around 4,000 TL which is around $300 today! Anyone considering buying a property here should be in their retirement rather than a young couple with children as it would take them nearly 30 years to make their money back in rent, unless you are foreign it's really hard on the native Turkish people that's what I'm trying to say

Wow! As usual you guys nailed it. I’ve been following your vlogs as far back as Ecuador. I have been vacillating between choosing Turkey or Ecuador either to visit or reside in. Your videos are helping me and I suppose a whole lot of others decide which place suits them best. As for me, I know a whole lot of Spanish to get by but I might have to learn some Turkish as well. Thank you so much for the information. Keep up the great work.

Great informative video WnJ. These builders do such an amazing job that put the US Home builders to shame that build homes with wood and card board. Love the style, elegance, functionality and ambiance they build into their homes at a very affordable price. US Home builders can learn from these guys than selling cookie cutter homes at highly inflated prices. Thanks again for an eye opening wow homes in Turkey.

Price they ask is a ripoff! $100,000 for a 2B condo is extremely expensive for Turkey. anybody who is interested in, should check different realtors for queries. If it is possible, check it with a trusted native residents of the city, who will not scam or rip you off.

Something I did not see mentioned and I would like to check. I understand why you quote the prices in a strong currency but I understand buying/ selling and offering to rent must be done in the local currency. With the current rate of inflation once a tenant is in the apartment, your rental income will not keep pace with inflation and you must stick to the legal increase only. Over a couple of years this becomes a problem. Also could you mention how long you must keep a property to avoid the tax on your capital investment? Thanks.

Thanks for the tours. I notice there are no dryers, only wash machines. Is it even possible to purchase one and get it installed? Is it a cultural thing of limited clothing, so less laundry, or a money saving habit? Beautiful developements, I hope it doesn't turn into the horrible situation China now is having. Looking forward to the next video.😁
@ohcaptainmy
@ohcaptainmy 2 жыл бұрын
You can get dryers or a washer dryers if you want but generally people use the smaller balcony to hang their clothes out to dry. An indoor rack is also enough for a single wash. Antalya is never really cold and gets a lot of sunshine so dryers are only needed for 2 months or so.
@WarrenJulieTravel
@WarrenJulieTravel 2 жыл бұрын
We’ve actually learned how to hang clothes quite a bit as we travel around Europe, dryers are not near as common as in the United States. If we put a dryer in the search for an Airbnb and also include pets allowed, we will have no choices to choose from. They can be bought, we have one in our home in Montenegro, but it is an exception. We went with the ventless model.

I've been waiting for your reports from the Antalya region. At 62 years of age, I have been researching the possibility of buying a 2nd home abroad, and maybe even retiring somewhere permanently. I have been studying Antalya, and Alanya even more. Alanya is about a 90 minute drive east of Antalya. Alanya is a quaint little city,....a mini-Antalya you might say, and prices there can be even cheaper than Antalya, if chosen carefully. Will you be traveling to Alanya?
@cfonde
@cfonde 2 жыл бұрын
What appeals to me about this region of Turkey is,....you get mild weather in winter, but it will get HOT (close to 40 degrees C.), with almost no rain in summer . This area "almost" has a California feel to it, as you have the mountains to the north, and the Mediterranean Sea to the south, with many great beaches. The Antalya region was plagued by wildfires last summer, that were a bit slow to be contained by the government.
@cfonde

Turkey is a place that COULD check most of the boxes for any retiree. From my research, I have learned that Turkey has great potential for the future. A young, educated workforce. They manufacture many of their own products (the U.S. needs to learn that lesson). Prices by U.S. standards are way more than reasonable, as evidenced in your last video. Turkey appears to be a safer country from a crime perspective. The U.S. is becoming out of control crime wise. Turkish people seem to be genuinely welcoming of foreigners, and people who don't speak Turkish. In Antalya and Alanya, there is a huge Russian-speaking population, and many people from Europe and the Arab countries either own 2nd homes there, or have relocated to Turkey. Healthcare and dental has been reported to be excellent. The Turkish Lira has been in decline lately, making prices of homes and goods, even more affordable. I am NO expert on Turkey. In fact, I have never even traveled there. Warren and Julie have already learned more about Turkey in a couple weeks, than I have doing months of research. (I'll get off my soap box now).

Thanks for your assessment on Antalya. Love the way the homes are built here and the price and the amenities. US home builders can learn from these guys. I noted what you said about 40C temp in Summer. I love Turkey and sure what to escape the Texas summer. I love Turkey and its proximity to visit Europe and sure there must be some parts of the country that have milder summer. I saw in one video they had a nice meal for 4 for $9.00 Thats sweet. Your $$ will go a long way in Turkey and tired of the daily crime in the US, escalating health care cost, lawlessness, and the govt not taking care of Illegal immigration etc etc.

@@cookmaster3626 - Thanks for appreciating my comments. There are some negatives to living in Antalya. The city doesn't have a ton of consumer conveniences, like most any American city with similar population. Lack of shopping options might be a detractor. Furniture, electronics, department stores, automobiles, etc., do exist there, but not as many options for places to purchase, and price compare. Cars are expensive to buy there, but supposedly they don't depreciate much either. I assume auto insurance is less expensive there? Just like the maintenance fee of any of those apartment buildings. Average fee is about $20/month. I pay $415/month for my HOA fee in a Florida condo. Most restaurants there look like the cheap, touristy places, with picture menu's on the street, and someone on the sidewalk trying to rope in unsuspecting tourists. Antalya and Alanya do have a lot of historical and cultural things to do. Antalya has an amusement park, a large aquarium, plenty of places for swimming, and the adjacent mountains offer lots of natural preserve. It might be cool to own a 2nd home there, and just visit for a few months per year. As for a cooler environment during summer, maybe some place closer to Istanbul, which is further north?
@cookmaster3626

My thoughts are on living a minimalist living (bare min items) ,easy to move around, and living 6 months a year in Europe using the Schengen 90/180 day rule and the remaining 6 months in a non Schengen country / Malaysia (90 days). This way i get to travel most countries in Europe and spend time in a relaxed manner in the neighboring areas. Spain is a pretty low cost living if you choose to be in the coastal area like Alicante and south of there.
