Hey Josh, can you share your routing in the matrix, please? I have the Orion Studio Synergy Core, and I am not hearing the mic emulations. I believe I am doing something wrong in the routing. I do have the correct channel selected, the mic emulations work on 5-12, all good with that. When you were going through the different models, I could hear the difference. Thanks in advance

To my ears, the Edge Solo has quite a bit of noise compared to the NT1 when you switch between them

Some room treatment will help with that. NT1 is made for people starting out who most likely don’t have a lot of treatment in said room.

Hi Joshua, for the comparison, did you use the edge solo with it's emulation on? I'm asking myself if this mic would also work well with other interfaces (without any Emulation). I do own a zengo but I'd also Like to use with other interfaces. Thanks for the video!

This was without emulation. I have actually plugged it directly into my zoom H8 and it still sounds amazing.

@@swavycrazekid well, I‘m no expert, but I think both are very good, the Edge Solo as a modeling microphone is very interesting for that reason, moreover it was a free gift for purchasing the ZenQ audio interface. I haven’t compared them yet in equal circumstances to really be able to say my opinion, but both are ok for my needs.

I own the Edge Solo, sound is good, but self-noise is rediculous, I'm avoiding it cause I need noise reduction to make it usable! No recommendation from me. I informed Antelope about the noise issue, they asked me to send samples and I never heard from them again, even after reaching out to them several times. Very dissappointing....

@@nudawns8760 A free mic is better than no mic at all! Honestly, especially if you are recording music. That self noise doesn't matter. The most beloved vintage mics out there have a self noise around 20dB and that is excluding all the noise from outboard gear used in 60's and 70's. Self noise only becomes a real issue when you are recording sound effects where you might night tons of compression or voice over work. Have fun with your mic!

Yes sir. If you're not using an Antelope Audio interface you will need an iLok. The microphone will work by itself without an iLok of course but you wont be able to use the modeling software.

iD14 can be expanded so if you think you might want more I/O in the future go for the Audient. But SSL pre amps are great I've loved all the SSL and Audient stuff I've worked on. Can't really go wrong with either.

hey i purchased the edge solo yesterday from my local pawn shop unfortunately i am not able to use the modeling/emulation features because the microphone was activated by the previous owners email do you know how i can get those effects?

What ive understood in a simple way: Antelope: 1.5x larger diagram / better with high end / emulation is a tasty spice NT1: 95% same quality of vocals, cheaper

Funny story...... My Edge quit working on me for no reason after I made this video. The NT1 still works great. 🤷🏼‍♂️ I honestly can not recommend Antelope Audio to anyone at this point. Microphones or interfaces.

@@peerlessrecords6236 I use Studio One Professional, loads of Isotope plugins and many other industry standard plug ins and not one of them use ilok. I don’t care what you say, ilok is a pain in the arse and I’ll never buy anything that uses it. There’s no need to, because there’s always plenty of good alternatives.
