It’s tough. For my talking head series, I don’t know if I should go with my a6400 with 16mm or iPhone 15 PM.

Couldn't get Cubase to record vocals through plugins without latency very easily. I had to use the Constrain Delay Compensation feature to correct it. Found it pretty outdated and cumbersome to simply record a single mic a vocal chain. In the Audio Settings it said the latency was super low too, like 2.3ms. I've had 0 latency with any other daw or software. The best DAW combo is Reaper, Ableton and FL Studio. You can configure Reaper to accommodate any workflow and it doesn't eat up a bunch of resources. It also utilizes more CPU Performance cores than any other DAW. Ableton is nice for sound design and it's really intuitive. FL Studio amazing when it comes to piano roll work. Studio One is kinda buggy and can't run the lowest sample rates my current computer is capable of with out pops and cracks. Reaper I can get away with 64 samples easier than any other daw. I'll probably give Cubase one more try, but yeah if anyone is going to try it, just get used to not being able to run any plugin you want when tracking, you'll have to run ones that have a low enough latency additive so you don't have drive the Contrain Delay Compensation high enough to induce delay.

Hey Joshua! I came from Protools LE to Studio One. Never tried Cubase, but I love how S1 simply freed me up to make music. If I didn't know how to do something, then the boys at Presonus would always no doubt have a HOW-TO video on it. I think being free to just 'produce'without hassels is my main thing. Cheers mate!

I just downloaded their new Windows version so I'm super excited to try it. Noticed there weren't a lot of videos about it still. I'm currently a Cakewalk user which I love, but I'm excited to see the recording capability differences with my new apollo twin. So far the interface has been amazing with Cakewalk, but i hope more community and UA support comes out on this new windows version. Thank you for the video.

I have a ufx+ and a babyface pro fs. So I’m a bit of an RME fan boy. And you probably already made your decision at this point. But I would say if you’re not planning on doing mobile work, I personally would find the baby face to be annoying. Not because it’s not great and it is, but I look at it in the sense that it is a desktop units in a mobile setting. It’s not that big of a deal. You’ll use it pack it up and be done with it. If it’s gonna be your main unit that you’re gonna actually sit on your desk that’s gonna be there all the time I would find out annoying. Because you’re going to have your monitors chords hanging out the back of it and depending on where you have it sitting those porch can take up a lot of desktop space. Then you’re gonna have the headphone coming out the right side so I recommend trying to find an L-shaped headphone adapter kinda slim it down a little. And then if you decide you want to grow even more and use the AA then you got wires coming out the left side. So for like a stationary desktop audio interface, it really does take up a lot of space in the grand scheme of things. If I was going to continue to stick with RE and you said the $500 doesn’t make that big deal I would spend a little bit more and get like a UCX. That way it is a audio interface that meant to be on the desk in the majority of everything is gonna be hanging out the back you would put it at the back of your desk so that way it’s not taking up much space. But then you only have to worry about essentially I headphone wire coming out the front or a microphone cable. Typically those aren’t something you have plugged in all the time so it’s not like a big deal.

My man, this is definitely a personal preference, apart from what you said, it is suitable for both uses for home users, but it is a pity that you did not mention the converter qualities. Everyone already knows Apollo plugins and total mix. Instead of addressing a subject that everyone knows, you could have considered the detailed converter and preamp qualities. Still, you have produced a content as you wanted, but you could have elaborated on this KZbin video content and provided clearer information. Thanks for your interest anyway.

I have both Studio One Artist and Cubase LE 13. As much as I loved the interface in the presonus software, Steinberg's is so much more flexible, and for film scoring, there are some valuable tools. I'm scoring a trailer for a contest using my LE 13 because Studio One Artist doesn't have video support, which is dumb. Hope I can upgrade quickly my Cubase to Pro or even Artist, but yeah, i'm definitely sticking with it.

I think the main reason people are getting upset is the fact that the Studio One latest update doesn't include automatic access to their new synth. I watched a review of that synth the other day, and it's not that good anyway, so I don't have a problem with it. I've used most DAWS, and still say Studio One is far better than most.

I’ve been using Apollo interfaces for a number of years. I’m interested in trying RME because of what I’m hearing about the sound , but the software look’s about 15 years old. They should consider a complete overhaul/update of their design. It sounds like it’s not intuitive, and it just doesn’t look very inviting.

Another happy BabyFace Pro FS user. The driver and forum support is simply unparalleled with other companies I've dealt with. Loved this thing as soon as the TotalMix software "clicked". Here's one tip that clicked for me: start at the bottom right of the mixer interface where it says "Phones" and "Main". This is your pivot point between two completely different mixers. Click back and forth between the two and see how the entire rest of the interface changes to reflect the 2 completely different mixers - one for the phones, and one for the speakers. This simple realization ended hours of frustration trying to figure out why settings weren't doing what I expected them to do. You're welcome! ;-)

Neumann headphone division share the same designers and engineers as the Sennheiser professional division. Sennheiser owns Neumann. In terms of ACCURACY at Studio Reference Level, nothing beats the Sennheiser HD400 Pro. They are the best pair of headphones on the market regardless of price IMHO. The only drawback (if you can call it that) is that they are brutally honest/transparent and they don't do well with a lot of ambient noise due to being open backs.

I'm testing them right now. hand-by-hand with Sennheiser HD490 and Audeze MM-100. holy moly.. how good they are! Sennhs and Audeze doing good but not so good)) I didn't found from the start important information - they really sensitive to the placement. that's because Neumann decided to make this angled drive and if you place them wrong you gonna hear lack of high mids. yeap.

One of the biggest advantages is definitely the ADAT connectivity. UAD has only a IN. If you are willing to expand your I/Os then you’re shot out of luck. I’ve been on a Apollo for the last 3 years and I love it but the ADAT connectivity does suck a lot.

Your only point here is stock plugins. Truth is, not many people just use stock plugins. I am upset with Studio One 6.6.1 version though. It's a CRASH nightmare. The previous version was completely stable. They blame outdated plugins which is bullshit. If they don't fix it, I may or may not switch and just use the previous version which could do everything I ever needed a DAW to do and a lot easier than Cubase. I switched from Cubase to S1 years ago because S1 was light years easier to use. No one can also beat the drag and drop features of S1. I was also tired of paying Steinberg money for update after update for the extra synths and plugins. Back then it was like paying yearly subscription fees. They get you one way or another. All these software companies.

After 3 months with S1 it's too much of an uphill battle. Many great things, but very basic (important) things like undo, recording midi in time (not early) and midi quantize all do not really work correctly. Frustrating to say the least and huge time wasters. I tested Cubase today and all these functions work perfectly. I am seriously considering jumping ship and getting Cubase (in spite of the quirks) since arranging should not be hindered by essential broken functionality.

I have not used so many Daw:s. My first DAW..... (no it was not a DAW it was just a sequenser) was Cakewalk for DOS. Loved it and used it for many years, and the last one was Sonar. Then I switched to Cubase, a bit of a struggle in the beginning, but now I really like it. The absolute best things with Cubase is the mixer. Never seen any DAW with this feature like snapshot, undo list and zoom. Realy like that. Also like the workflow, easy to understand, Tried S1 once but gave up. I think that is why we like different DAW:s. The workflow, if you don´t like it. you go to another DAW.

Very buggy software. Tried the demo and kept getting notes ringing out after stopping playback, even after changing all settings suggested by others. Also, the fact you can’t just double click to add an instrument or effect to a track, but have to drag everything is stupid. It’s hilarious they act like that is a special feature and not a limitation.

So many DAWs out there. I initially started with a list of FL Studio, Ableton, Logic Pro, Studio One, and Cubase. FL Studio and Ableton don't have score editors, so I had to eliminate them. Logic Pro is Apple only and I only have a laptop and tablet from them. I can connect my laptop to a monitor, but do I really want to go that route? Studio One is still being highly considered, but I wish that they invested more in the acoustic instruments. Cubase has really nice acoustics, but the UI is trash. People say that it's loaded with features, but it appears that Studio One has everything that I need.

I've made my decision that my 2nd DAW is going to be Cubase 13 Elements / Cubase 13 Artist. It's been quite a hot minute to make my final decision to choose the perfect 2nd DAW along with Mixcraft 10.5 Pro Studio. I've though out using Reaper 7, Cakewalk, Waveform 13 Free, Studio One 6.6, Magix Music Maker. But Cubase 13 Elements was the one to go for. I'm definitely looking forward to trying out in the foreseeable future, If all goes well. Then the Elements version will be 2nd primary DAW. Then later down the pipeline. I'll upgrade to Cubase 13 Artist, The Artist version has unlimited MIDI, Audio & Instrument tracks. Studio One will try it's best to outlast Cubase. And it's my own opinion, Cubase 13 blows Studio One 6.6 out the window.
