I owned my antelope Orion 32 gen 3 for years. Zero issues, the converters are some of the best. I am glad you stepped to antelope products. I also owned Presonus products in the past and am a studio one user. I also have had nothing but issues with their interfaces. I gave up on most of their products because of the lack of tech support and everything is discontinued. The best product they ever made was the adl 700 and 600 and they discontinued that too. Those preamps were top notch for that company. My recordings became commercial professional quality after switching to antelope. The galaxy is top of the line. I believe you will be super please with it. When I switch to the antelope years ago. I heard tremendous differences in the recordings and mixes. I actually could hear what was going on in detail in the speakers. I also the MOTUs 896HDs and 24AO and 24AI. My second choice of converters to use in my other setups. Overall, Antelope was the best decision I ever made in my entire studio upgrade

I got one too. Plenty of I/O needs and was a Universal Audio guy. No Dante(at the time) and almost $5k per 16 channels of conversion made the case for the Galaxy 64 for me. I love my RME, but honeslty I wish I had gotten an Antelope, mainly because of the quantity of analog I/O I need. Its great, BUT has super limited analog I/O for a flagship audio interface...crazy
@MixingMusicAnalogАй бұрын
The i/O count on the Galaxy cant be matched by any other company
@tomrogers2790Ай бұрын
Thanks for the very informative video! I'm actually considering RME but torn between the two. I don't need nearly 64 analog IO. Maybe 16 or less...especially if I get a Neve OPX with ADAT....that would be 8 more "ins" with something like a UFX III would get me to 20 analog ins....which should be plenty. Anyway I like the RME software, stability, and support....but not going to bail on Antelope....but right now I'm leaning towards RME.

I had an Antelope Synergy core studio (12 input interface). I've had SSL interfaces, UAD too, and installation's always been a breeze. But it took me three days to get the Antelope to work in thunderbolt (usb was easy to get working). I had to do mods to my mac's low level security, which is crazy, just to use thunderbolt. Support had to help me out, and they were great. But then the unit would sometimes refuse the thunderbolt connection and only accept usb. Totally random occurences. And to get the Studio app running, you need a separate launcher that double checks your device's S/N. It's as quirky as it gets, cumbersome and not reliable. At least that was my experience. And I can't allow for any errors on days I'm tracking musicians. When I'm mixing, I can afford to lose a couple of hours, but when musicians are in, it's gotta work. This was the worst experience I've had so far with an interface, so good luck to you, and I really hope nothing bad happens on your side.
@MixingMusicAnalogАй бұрын
Thanks for that info. So far, I have been trouble free but if the unit become un-reliable and causing that many issues like you are describing, then I will get something else. What else can I do? I have had the unit for 10 months and not a single issue, (fingers crossed). Lets hope it stays that way
@68SnapsАй бұрын
@@MixingMusicAnalog If the unit you have works, then it's great! Software glitches are platform dependent, vary with configuration, memory size, interaction with other drivers and software, and what is dysfunctional in one place may work perfectly in another.

@1KMPLXАй бұрын
Maybe Black Lion Audio can fill the niche left behind by Presonus’ 4848’s; a high speed thunderbolt 32x32 interface that punches above its weight class. I could see Black Lion Audio doing something like that. I hope somebody does. With their high IO count and super low latency the 4848’s allowed me to break into hybrid mixing. Now I have a ton of gear, but I don’t have the money to spend on a Galaxy or Orion. My gear budget tends to be in the sub $2,000 range (though I have a few things in the $3,000 range).

well, i have the antelope discrete 8 over at my studio and one fine day the L and R main outputs went KAPUT! no customer care chats were able to help, i still use this interface because everything is plugged into it with 8 channels of ADAT IO. but when i can switch to RME i will say bye bye to Antelope audio and never ever touch their devices again! I hope your galaxy 64 stays reliable. The reason why they have 18 hours of customer support live is because their hardware/software combo is often finicky AF and if you want to power up and work.. this might just throw a spanner in your work the day you least need it to!

@@MixingMusicAnalog yeah, just sharing my experience with antelope audio. I've had my interface for about 5 years now, and maybe twice in a year it will throw a random fit at me. A few times it went into boot loader freeze where it got stuck and would not come out of it, the issues were fixed after multiple restart attempts but if this happens before a session it is a bit of a heart attack moment! but let's say it works fine 990 out 1000 times. would be great if it worked everytime like my other interface ;)

Welcome to Antelope my friend. I have the Orion Studio 2017 revision. Its been nothing short of amazing. Antelope makes the best clocks so even if you bought two orions they are made to clock perfectly as a family. The AD conversion is top tier. The DA is almost as good. You should add the Amari to your setup and record the converters on that beast. Nothing aounds like the Amari.
@FractalWavesAudioАй бұрын
Also I would never spend money on Apogee. Sure they are a fine company and nothing wrong with their products except the price. Apogee is an overpriced company. I'd buy Antelope or Lynx over Apogee any day. Especially if you top your Studio off with Amari. Also the 10x Atomic clock they make is phenomenal. This is actually the route to take for multiple in out patching. Who needs a damn FLOCK? not you.
@MixingMusicAnalogАй бұрын
What is the Amari? I never hear dof it. I would love to have a FLOCK style patch-bay but for the amount of inserts I would need, it makes it so expensive and practical .

@FractalWavesAudioАй бұрын
@@MixingMusicAnalog Amari is an impressive sounding mastering grade DAC. 138dB dynamic range with 4 DAC chips per channel. Using the Amari to monitor/print your final mix will reveal the unit's incredible stereo image. It just has to be heard. Typical setup would send audio to the Amari via SPdif/AES. Then run Amari's analog out back into its own input to record the incredible conversion of that DAC and back into pro tools via SPDIF/AES. It's kind of like having that extra Midas touch. There are a few videos out there of engineers doing that setup.
@MixingMusicAnalogАй бұрын
Yea, I have done the 2 channel ‘Print track” converter test 3-4 times already on this channel and I think most of that is hype.
