This is part 2 of Episode 8. This episode focuses on antenna design, with underlying theory covered in Part 1 and illustrations/discussion of how that is used to make real-world antennas in Part 2 - this video. In addition, the related subject of radio frequency interference ( RFI and EMC ) from electronic products is touched on in Part 1. Part 2 (this video) goes into some detail on the vast set of possible antenna configurations by showing and talking through a large set of examples. Given the size of the subject(s), some references are offered at the end for further study.

Thanks for this series, I learned so much. I very much look forward to further series from you. Maybe a more detailed look at certain types of antenna and propagation? As a radio ham I'm bound to request that! Thanks again.

You are very welcome! I definitely appreciate all your comments. Sorry for the late response. Not sure what or when the next video or series will be yet. Now that this one is capped off, it's time to give it some thought ... 73s !

Another fine video. Thanks. Is there any chance that you will talk about baluns and related feed line issues at some point?

Thanks! No current plans to do that, but we could discuss here a little. Aside from what's shown in this episode, there is a little related info (the reason they're needed) in Episode 6, around 22 :30 mark. It's a simulation to look at what happens when a dipole is fed without a balun. In the current episode, you probably noticed that what I called a balun in some spots is really a "sorta balun" - i.e. just an RF choke to try to prevent the outer-shield currents seen in Ep6 from traveling back on the coax. That kinda works, but one could debate how well. Do you have a particular aspect of baluns you're thinking of? When I was a new ham, I read about them but ended up skipping them with the dipoles I built. I think a lot of hams do that and it's not a terrible result, as the sim in Ep6 at timemark 22 :30 shows :-) kzbin.info/www/bejne/jHe1enWqe9yDn6c
