Thank you, doctor, for this amazing series. The dynamic guide is such a good idea. We learnt to just cut the silicone into halfs to look at the reduction in occluso-gingival aspect. This guide makes it way better. I watch your videos avidly to then practice the tips and tricks in the sim lab. You have helped me immensely. I struggle with finishing the procedures on time. Do you have any suggestions as to how I can speed things up? Thank you again.

also i was tought in dental school that gloves interact with the polymerization process of the silicone

The powder in powdered gloves contained sulfur which interfered with the setting reaction. We use powder free Nitrile gloves.

If you do your preparations over APT (aesthetic pre-evaluative temporaries) and placing depth cuts in APT indicate you do not actually need to grind tooth enamel, do you still required to prepare gingival and/or proximal margins? How wide? What bur tipe? How do you do no-prep veneers?

Hello Dr; I had veneer procedure done yesterday for 4 front tooth. And my dentist spilled mild gum on one of the veneers; now that veneer surface on the front is very rough to touch compare to other three veneers. What would you recommend for my case?

now that prep should be done on cast after wax up or on patient direct teeth befor reduction ?i got confused
@StevensonDentalSolutions5 жыл бұрын
Use the wax-up or digital design to fabricate a stent with the proposed final contours and lengths. Add a temporary material to this stent and apply it to the patient to see the final proposed veneers. If the patient accepts this and it meets your functional and esthetic objectives, you may remove this, then acid etch and bond it to the teeth and start prepping in the mouth. Use the prep guide to check your progress. After the preps are completed, remove any remaining mock up material, create a finish line and take the impression.

I think this putty reduction guide is used when we want to maintain the current shape of the teeth but only want to change the texture or color. What if patient is not happy with the alignment or shape of the current teeth? Would you request the waxup from the lab and then make a putty reduction guide of the wax up instead? Could you make a separate video for this?
@StevensonDentalSolutions4 жыл бұрын
You are correct. I use Digital Smile Design for this and print a model from a virtual wax-up. I plan on making a video of this soon. Thank you!
@jesusguillermoberrelesmend53534 жыл бұрын
Thats silicone by addition
@StevensonDentalSolutions4 жыл бұрын
Try again Doc. Condensation reaction silicones irreversibly cure leaving ethyl alcohol as a by-product and aren’t meant to polymerize intra-orally. The reaction and the by-product can lead to polymerization shrinkage, so this kind of material is generally packaged with a highly filled putty base and a lower viscosity catalyst activator. The highly filled putty base has less polymer and results in less polymerization shrinkage. Examples of this type of lab putty are Sil-Tech (Ivoclar Vivadent) and Lab-Putty (Coltene/Whaledent). Some users report skin irritation from the catalyst and recommend using gloves while mixing this type of lab-putty. Latex gloves have been implicated in interference of the setting reaction so a different glove material is suggested.

Stevenson Dental Solutions not a problem. Can I just say thank you for your excellent videos. Watched the veneer series and absolutely fantastic. I have major concerns with placing anything but a facial veneer as feel normal excursive and chewing motions of the lower mandible will displace it. Do you have any advice for this? Other than reducing the contact ?
@StevensonDentalSolutions5 жыл бұрын
Great question! Lengthening anterior teeth requires a thorough understanding of dynamic function: Pathways taken by the teeth during chewing AND parafunction: the forces and patterns of wear when the patient clenches or grinds. Before embarking on a veneer case, the Functional Diagnosis must be made, and then the planning may be made. Too much for KZbin - fortunately I teach this in my Anterior Veneer course. I will put out a video on the 5-step check that I teach some time in the future - this will help...
