the anthems of nations that don't exist anymore are very fascinating. this is a compilation of several anthems from the HRE to the confederate states of America. keep in mind that some countries have had more than one anthem like the ottoman empire or Hawaii, I've used the last anthem that these countries have had. thanks for watching

The Ottoman one sounds like a backing track to a cartoon from the 20s. Always knew the UK national anthem was based on a German tune and the Prussian one is literal proof. Hawai'i sounds like a lullaby. I'm surprised you haven't included the Horst Wessel.

Cup of Solid Gold wasn't the anthem for the entirety of the Qing Dynasty, as it only became the official anthem of the Qing Dynasty on October 4, 1911, but was relinquished in February 1912 when Empress Dowager Longyu abdicated the Qing throne on behalf of six-year-old Puyi, so the anthem didn't actually last that long! It was the first official anthem of China, though Pu Tian Yue is often viewed as the first but it was not approved officially by the Qing. The golden cup was a ritual instrument that symbolized the empire, first used by Emperor Qianlong to wish for the solidification of political power and the country's development and prosperity. So the anthem is about the stability of said cup. Ironically, six days after it was adopted, the Wuchang Uprising happened, beginning the Xinhai Revolution that ended the dynasty. While the First Mexican Empire didn't last long, its anthem is far older! It was written by Rabanus Maurus, a ninth-century German monk, teacher, archbishop, and saint. When the original Latin text is used, it is normally sung to a Gregorian Chant tune first known from Kempten Abbey around the year 1000! As an invocation of the Holy Spirit, Veni Creator Spiritus is sung in the Catholic Church during liturgical celebrations on the feast of Pentecost, at both Terce and Vespers. And an interesting fact about the Federal Republic of Central America is its flag was inspired by Argentina's! French-Argentine sailor Hipólito Bouchard raided Spanish outposts across the Americas and so when these Central Americans saw the Argentine flag raised, they viewed it as their flag of liberation.

Hawaiʻi Ponoʻī was the anthem of the kingdom from 1876 to 1893, and then the Republic of Hawaii from 1894 to 1898. After US annexation, it became the territorial anthem and was adopted as a state symbol in 1967. Because of its status and Hawaiian pride, it's commonly sung in Hawaiian schools and after the US anthem in sporting events. The words were written in 1874 by King David Kalākaua with music composed by Captain Henri Berger, then the king's royal bandmaster. It replaced an anthem composed by Queen Liliʻuokalani herself called He Mele Lāhui Hawaiʻi or Song of the Hawaiian Nation (originally adopted in 1866). Her song was created at the request of Kamehameha V who wanted to replace the British anthem.

"Heil dir im Siegerkranz" was not the anthem of the Kingdom of Prussia, it was the anthem of the German Empire (1871-1918). The anthem of Prussia was from 1820 to 1832 "Borussia", Authors: Johann Friedrich Leopold Duncker (1768-1842) and Carl Alexander Herklots (1759-1830), Composer: Gaspare Luigi Pacifico Spontini (1774-1851). From 1832-1918 the Prussian anthem was "Preußens Vaterland" ("Prussian's Fatherland"), Author: Bernhard Thiersch (1794-1855), Composer: Heinrich August Neithardt (1793-1861). The Brazilian Empire had two anthems. The first, the same one you listed in the video, was written by our first Emperor and was used until 1841, when Dom Pedro II became emperor at 14 yeras old and they composed a completely different anthem. Whereas the first hymn talked about freeing Brazil from colonial chains, the second one exalted the person of the monarch. Today, the Anthem of the Republic of Brazil shares the same melody with the second Imperial Anthem, albeit they obviously erased the monarchical tendencies of the lyrics to suit their Positivist ideas.

I liked it too, so I looked it up. Apparently it's a 9th C hymn, usually sung "Gregorian", but this particular version is modern as composed by the Italian Andrea Montepaone, who is presently 44. Thus, this orchestration would not have been used by the First Mexican Empire. However, I'm glad the person who put this together chose this, otherwise I likely would never have heard it.

As a Turk, I wanted to research this Ottoman anthem by hearing it for the first time in this video.Wikipedia; The Reşadiye Marşı (English: March of Reşad) was the imperial anthem of the Ottoman Empire from 1909 to 1918.[1] Upon the commencement of Sultan Mehmed V Reşad's reign in 1909, a competition was declared to compose a personal march for the new sultan. The contest was won by Italo Selvelli, who was of Italian descent, as were nearly all the other composers of personal marches for previous sultans.[2] Like the previous sultan's march, this anthem also had lyrics, although they seem to have been lost to history.

Lol, the anthem for the Kingdom of Prussia is the same melody as the UK uses today for "God Save the King" (or the US uses in the unofficial, Our Country Tis of Thee)

3:54 *A man with a thin moustache, hiding behind a wall looks down below at a rich man and a woman having a nice conversation. The man spots an exquisite bonnet on the rich mans head.* “I must have that bonnet!” *the man picks up a hook like stick, he then uses it to take the bonnet.* “What the devil? THAT MAN HAS TAKEN MY BONNET!” *the man runs away, looking back merrily, while laughing and kicking his feet in the air.* “AFTER HIM!” *the rich man screams, multiple hoodlums then come out from behind the wall and they start chasing the man.* *the man sees the hoodlums chasing him, and he turns a corner, and he hides in a basket. Not realising the man has hidden himself in a basket, the hoodlums continue to run.* *The man comes out of his hiding spot, puts the bonnet on his head, and walks away, once again kicking his feet in the air in joy.*
