Anthony Bourdain struggled with fame and heartbreak in the days leading up to his death by suicide, a new book reveals.
In an unauthorized biography titled “Down and Out in Paradise: The Life of Anthony Bourdain,” journalist Charles Leerhsen includes text messages sent by the late celebrity chef in his final days that give insight into his mindset.
“I hate my fans, too. I hate being famous. I hate my job,” Bourdain wrote to his ex-wife Ottavia Busia-Bourdain, who had become one of his close confidants, per an excerpt published by the New York Times. “I am lonely and living in constant uncertainty.”

I bet that women feels awful. How tragic. My dad died by suicide. We are human. We need to be treated as such. She had no idea how is was Inside and while this was his choice and not her fault , it wouldn’t of hurt her to be more kind. How sad.

I truly never could understand why he was so miserable so early on in life. He managed to have an enter career in an industry where chefs can often times be seen as a dime a dozen and he actually took off.....basically on a lark which is even more miraculous that he even reached any kind of success. He was too old not to know when he was playing with potentially volatile situations. Why would anyone ever consent to promiscuity. He had a daughter who can never replace him and he allowed himself to be put in such an emotionally heightened state over someone so unworthy of his interest.

Asia Argento is largely, but not solely, responsible for Tony's death. Tony was a tragically sensitive soul. Which is why he is loved the world over so many times. Once she got him to pay off her victim, she felt free to have affairs.

I don't like the woman at all but she is not responsible for Tony's suicide. He agreed to an "open" relationship with a much younger woman who liked to sleep around. That was his choice. It seems pretty clear that in the end Tony wasn't really OK with the arrangement. It doesn't surprise me. So called open relationships are recipes for disaster for at least one participant.

@@Boudica234 People don't survive open relationships. As you said, at least one will get hurt. It's usually one person agreeing to it under duress, just because they really want to keep that person in their life, and hope they will be ultimately picked above all others. Betrayal from cheating is the worst pain I've ever been through, and I would never agree to an open relationship. It was better to just turn them loose permanently than to continue having to be cheated on.

He clearly hated everything when he wrote that, and I've heard he struggled w/ self hate at times. Any famous person is going to have mixed feelings about fans at times. He was a very warm person and seemed to really care about people. That's what everyone said about him.
