I respect and appreciate Anthony Davis game and as a pelican fan who was born and raised in Louisiana, I wish him the best. I’m sad to hear about his decision but if he wants to leave to go play with another team then let the man go. I rather have people who want to be in the Nola who are passionate about the team. I hope its to get the best deal available for the reason he is still currently with us. If it was me I would take the best deal available now but I have the faith that the pelicans can eventually get this right.

You seem like a loyal fan so I know how you feel, but the Pelicans messed up big time, and they just made it impossible for themselves to make it right. Every team in the league now knows that AD wants to go to the Lakers, and no team is going to offer a fair trade for what's going to be a 1 year rental. The Lakers know this, and so they can now offer a lessor deal in the summer because the Pelicans are stuck. The GM deserved to get fired, but that's not really a consolation to any of the fans.

I appreciate what A.D has done for the team, the city and the fans and as a native of Louisiana who loves Louisiana I still have nothing but love for him. Dell Demps did not do him any favors with poor drafts not keeping Buddy Hield, or Austin Rivers both have shown they could have helped the team if he would have kept them especially Buddy Hield who has been balling with the Kings. He signed questionable contracts i.e Omer Asik and Solomon Hill who has not done much production wise with the contract he got. Now, in Dell's defense he did bring in Tyreke evans who was a good signing from 2013-2017 he did bring in Jrue Holiday who has been great since he got there, he did acquire DeMarcus cousins, Juilus Randle Randle Nikola Mirotic and rondo all of them I would have figured out a way to keep. So, it's not like he did not bring in quality to decent pieces. Even if my Pelicans drafted and developed well he was not gonna stay anyway and free agents are not banging down the door to come here so, either way it goes they were screwed regardless.

@@benn255b3 did you watch the video? everyone talks about how AD was at fault to request the trade, but does anyone truly believe it was him that had the idea? think about it, which team could have benefited the most from AD being available for trade before the deadline? the Lakers because most other teams are either blocked by contracts or are waiting to see if they will have their picks or not so, how did this happen? because either Lebron or his agent sent the message to AD, it makes even less sense for AD to request the trade now than it makes sense for the Pelicans to accet it AD could have done this in secret and both his image and legacy would improve, he would inform them of not wanting to sign a new contract and would indicate the Lakers as his preferred destination to his advantage the Pelicans would have a few more months to pay attention to Ingram, Kuzma and Ball and see if they thought that would be enough for them going forward to top it all off the team would stay focused for the rest of the season, that would make the Pelicans front office more willing to listen to AD's preferences we have to remember that AD had all the power from the start, rushing it would only complicate things, even if traded somwhere other than the Lakers he would most likely still compete for the title, in 2020 he would still have the choice to join the Lakers or sign a new contract, by then he would still be in time to help Lebron on a last run, after that the Lakers would become his team and with him being a center it would be the perfect landing spot for any free agent guard or wing player we all know that for AD waiting until the Summer was the better option, so why did he rush things? because someone else needed that to happen, and that person is Lebron, the simple fact that people only blame AD shows how there is a narrative to shift attention from the true mastermind, if this is not making AD the scapegoat then I don't know what it is

People keep talking about AD and free agency but he won't be a free agency till summer of 2020! Klay has been outspoken about being willing to take a pay cut in order to play with the warriors for his entire career. KD has been outspoken about not wanting to play along side LeBron. Kawhi has publicly stated that if he goes to LA it will be with the Clippers. If the Lakers can't pull off a trade this summer for AD, the only top tier player(s) they could end up with are Kemba, Butler, Harris and/or Middleton. One thing people can’t seem to get through their heads is the NBA would be a 6 team league if players dictated everything. Players have their designated free agency period after their first extension which couldn’t be more fair to both sides. Small market teams being able to offer more money to their stars is a fair tactic to use. Why else would someone want to stay in a small market unless they have more money offered to them? The league needs these incentives. If not then you have 15 superstars playing for the lakers and 375 players sitting out and waiting to play for the lakers.

The fact is that no Pelican fans blamed Davis for wanting to leave until he pulled that stunt last night. Now he has damaged his own reputation while perhaps permanently damaging the local fans willingness to invest emotionally with any NBA player in the future. I think the owners know that the best offer would've been the one the Lakers have with all of those players and first time pick. Come summer time the Pelicans are not going to get anything remotely close. AD's trade value is dwindling as time goes by. That's why Demps was fired. Both parties are to blame. More so the Pelicans(Dell Demps), Listening to the ill advise from Popovich and the bitter GMs around the league. Hope they help him find a job now. SMH
