I will say, it really feels like the song was just made for the apple video. It doesn't sound like something the weeknd would make, it sounds like a song you would just hear on a commercial. That being said, this song's such a bop.

I’m curious at what point Apple got involved. Bc there’s no way Apple is making a typical Weeknd music video and playing it at the iPhone launch. Weeknd songs/videos are typically some level of provocative and even subversive. This one is 100% Apple-friendly and inoffensive. And to be clear, provocation is NOT necessary for a great song/video. But this feels like a relatively “safe” “radio hit” kinda song by Abel’s standards. Which is fine. I enjoyed it. But I think he’s at his best when he’s pushing the boundaries, lyrically and musically. Hopefully, the album will still do that - the leaks for other songs confirm that it definitely won’t just be 80s dance pop. I felt the same way about Blinding Lights, but then the album dropped, and within the context of the album - especially after Faith - the meaning of the song is transformed.

Even when heartless dropped it debuted at #1 and then next week charted at #17 and people started treating the song very badly. But you know how big of a bop heartless became overtime. Moral of the story dont ever doubt xo man, there's levels to this 🔥🔥🔥. People trying to bring abel down just because he is numerically on another level and breaking records left and right. They saying weeknd fell off , dude ssly . He just gave hits after hits on the idol and dont forget dawn FM. Anyways man , you cannot stop the hate when you actually #1 and the goat of music . @caincain36402 ай бұрын
@@veezee__04personally , i feel like this song and music video was trying to be the next BL really bad. and the whole tone of the track isn't getting along with how he's been advertising the other tracks he teased or how he's teasing the album. i don't have any problem with lyrics or the melody even though I've already heard people say it sounds like chatgpt wrote it. but i liked the acoustic version better. this version of production kinda ruined it for a lot of people including me. felt like how any other pop song written by max martin would sound. but considering Abel, the bar was always high. but I'm hoping it'd make sense when the album comes out. so yeah pretty so far it's not working out
@MysticalMastodon2 ай бұрын
@@caincain3640to me, the song is a metaphor for this whole ride of albums we’ve gone through since there’s almost always a change up in sound. We’ve been going along for all this way towards this new venture for Abel to crash and burn this persona to get there. It feels like Hurry Up Tomorrow is a prequel and sequel of sorts.

I agree it sounds really generic ngl. I think it would fit in the album but I'm not sure why he released it as a single, it kinda sounds like Scared to Live in After Hours which is more of a filler song and very forgettable imo. Also his acoustic versions has always been better, but this time I don't think it changes a lot at all.

It definitely sounds like advertisement music, as much as I love the Weeknd, this single was too safe a choice. It's almost like Apple had to sign off on the song. The live version was more emotive because the instrumental was toned down which allowed the lyrics to shine through. The instrumental on the studio version sounds very bland, it lacks that special touch that Blinding Lights had. I'm sure the album will have far better songs. I was not a big fan of Take My Breath but I thoroughly enjoyed Dawn FM-----especially Out of Time, which I think should have been the lead single. That or Less Than Zero which is so underrated.

Whaddya mean it's not cinematic, lmao? You can clearly say it comes way after After Hours & Dawn FM with what's going on in the official video. It lacks the amount of cinematic elements the way Dawn FM used it, or especially After Hours, but it kind of makes sense why. You need to get people **into** it at the beginning, but now that the Trilogy's closing with the upcoming album, he obviously is not revealing as much.
