Anthony Howell - Groundspeed (Bluegrass Banjo)

I meant to post this on Saturday (January 6th) since that would have been Earl Scruggs’ 100th birthday, but better late than never I suppose lol. I played this song at Winfield and on stage with Edgar Loudermilk Band several times and, who knows, it might show up on a new project someday 😉 Anyway, here is my arrangement and tribute to Earl Scruggs. One of his most famous banjo tunes called “Groundspeed”.

Back in the day you heard very little chromatic picking. Now it's full scale. I grew up on Scruggs, Munde and JD Crow. Boy things have changed. One of the best renditions of Ground Speed I've heard.

I think Don would love it but I wonder what Earl would think? It is amazing what he is doing though. Anthony has some serious talent! It is really hard to play like this but can you imagine being in a band trying to follow? Yikes!
