Anthony is a natural on the banjo. I had to fight for every lick I ever learned. He's smooth, clear and has impeccable timing. Great job Anthony.

The banjo I’m playing in the video is a Deering Rustic Wreath. I’ve had it since it was brand new in December of 2018. It’s an incredible instrument and is always getting better!

Fooled me- thought it was an old Mastertone. Great tone and has that mojo too. Thanks for the reply!

Great ! I like that kind of playing, not too fast, love it..... Sometimes people think thé farter they play thé better...but that's not my opinion

Hey Anthony, love your stuff! I have been playing banjo about 10 years, I can play pretty much any piece I set my mind on, please take a look at my video of Randy Lynn Rag. I can get the notes correct but, I have a real speed wall. Any advice on how to increase my speed? People always say …. “Speed will come with time, I’ve played for 10 years and the speed is NOT coming. 😁 I absolutely love your video of Groundspeed!!!! I can play it too, not with all the melodic licks you use but I can play the song…. But it’s slow. How do you get your speed up? Thanks for anything you can tell me, have a blessed day!
@anthonyhowellmusic11 ай бұрын
You have that down, man! The piece of advice I would give you on speed, is just focus on your right hand. Don’t even play anything with your left hand. Just play a forward roll or something simple and gradually try to pick up speed. It’s an exercise to build strength and dexterity in your right hand, to help you play with more speed and power.

@@anthonyhowellmusic Hey Anthony, thank you for the advice and thanks for checking out my video. You are clearly light years ahead me and I appreciate your willingness to engage with me. That is great advice, just working on my right hand only. If you do any shows in Arkansas please let me know, I’ll be there! Thanks again, have a blessed day!!

@@timbis9945 I am actually playing at the Mountain View Bluegrass Festival today with The Edgar Loudermilk Band. We play at 1:30 and 7:30 but I’ll be hanging around all day!

@@anthonyhowellmusic OMG!!! I would love to come see you play, but that’s over 3 hour drive for me. I would definitely make the trip, I’ve been to Mountain View for the old time banjo championship (frailing) but I would have to plan it. 😢 Are you coming to the Hot Springs area? That’s much closer and easier drive on short notice. Definitely would love to meet you and check out your killer banjo stuff up close!!!
