So true. I was always a big Lennox Lewis fan. I remember years and years ago, staying up to around 3 or 4 in the morning, listening to one of his fights on BBC Five Live (think it was the rematch with Rahman). After Lewis won, I can remember wanting to feel what Lennox was feeling, the crowd cheering and calling his name, the victorious walk back to his dressing room, the party and celebrations with his team, the congratulations from fellow fighters and celebrities. It must have felt great that night. I've never done that with any losing fighter - very few of us have - I wonder why? Maybe if I did, I'd maybe understand why AJ acted that way.

@@eliwood9906 whatever. Usyk has been studying AJ for at least 10 years, watching taking notes while AJ has been fighting mandatories etc. Usyk knows AJ movements well. So while he is very talented, he has had and taken the time to really study all there is to know about AJ. AJ on the other hand hasn't even had a full 6 months to get to know Usyk at. Usyk is not some god; he is very beatable. That is what happens when you are taking back to back championship level fights and taking on everyone. He was a good target for everyone. In hindsight, he should have been more strategic, dropped the WBO belt and let Usyk fight and defend it so he could have more info and see how Usyk fights more. Ofcourse, Usyk didnt want that, they wanted to fight him as it was easier as they knew all about him and more money. It's just sad that after defending those belts for so long, and trying to make undisputed they are taken of him like that. Good luck to him. He had a natural human moment. When he lost to Andy Ruiz people said he didn't care and he was too lackadaisical now he has an adrenaline frustrated episode people are also clowning him. All respect to him. He made massive improvements to his style. Had he managed to stick to it throughout the fight, he could have pulled it off. But it's hard to make fundamental changes at this point in his career.
@Smokiejoe6792 жыл бұрын
Agreed that’s why perfecting the fundamentals is probably the first things that should be taught and drilled at grassroot level. I like knockouts but boxing is more then just knockouts because Joshua been knocking every body out he doesn’t really know what it feels like to be in the deep end! He’s only been there a few times but Usyk thrives in the deep end! Joshua even said himself” I’m not a 12 round fighter” Mastering Distance, Timing and Rythm should be every amateur boxers goal or anybody that wants to compete because people who stay at the top are just guys who perfect the basic fundamentals of boxing 👍
@eivinstens60912 жыл бұрын
@@Smokiejoe679 Indeed. He's been too reliant on his power. When he came to this level, the flaws in his skills started to really show. He looked good in the early rounds, did ok in the middle rounds, but he couldn't keep it together during the last 3. That's where he lost it. I actually thought he was done after the first Ruiz fight, but the improvements he's made prior to this fight makes me think otherwise. If he continues on this path, he might be able to reach that next level.

We forget that we’re watching the very best vs the very best in high level sports like this To go 12 rounds vs Usyk, a guy whuse been training since a kid to be the absolute warrior and fighter he is, you have to be proud of yourself. He started the sport late and pushed himself to the limits, but respectully came short. Have utmost respect for him he’s always been down to earth, only ever hear good things about him and I remember meeting him outside a london night club once, he was warm and friendly. Even round Watford, burnt oak etc, only hear good things about him It was a good fight and he did himself proud, no matter what the ego filled, unself aware comments from some ppl will say. We forget we’re watching the best fight against each other, it gives me an appreciation for events like this to remember that.

Why is it when someone shows that their upset, trying to hide their emotions their burdens are always labeled as "showing their true colors"? aren't the true colors shown by this man not enough? Just as Eddie pointed out he gives everyone his time, he inspires the next generation, he dedicated his life to the sport of boxing. THAT is his true colors, being upset doesn't mean you were hiding your true colors, it just means you're a person who feels pressure, who carries responsibilities and burdens. People don't give him enough credit.

The man showed his true colours. When he threw the belts out of the ring. When he walked back to the dressing room. When he then came back and shouted "how did you beat me. When he then snatched a mic an made an embarrassing speech about himself, stealing the spotlight. Then making a huge fuss over the champ,getting the crowd to cheer him. which was overkill and unnecessary. Someone with class would not act like a spoilt kid not getting their own way. I have respect for the man but after that myself and alot of people will have lost it.

He’s human he put his all in to it. He wanted to win and came up just short and was devastated. Hopefully it won’t be long before he sees the good of this 2 fights with usyk as the improvement from the first to the second was outstanding. His head movement, defence everything was great . Other fighters have come back from a lot worse than lose 2 time to usyk , the second time was very close and if Joshua could have landed a few more of them body shots it could’ve been different outcome as usyk couldn’t hide it he was definitely hurt to the body in this fight and believe he was doing his very best to hide it. Brilliant boxing match. Can’t wait to see usyk vs fury and to see Joshua going forward from this

While you're mostly right it is debatable he can improve his cardio and muscular endurance while retaining his power. People tend to think he didn't capitalize on having Usyk hurt because of some psychological issues. Nonsense. The man was both gassed and his arms were pumped with lactic acid by 10th so badly you can see he didn't throw a proper jab in last two rounds.
