I’m gutted. Not because I’m a massive fan of AJ, but because of how he spearheads British Boxing. With him at the top, British Boxing was booming. Everyone was eating off the back of those big nights. For the last few years British Boxing has been on the decline, and now with no route back to the top for AJ, all I can see is that it becomes a feeder program for Saudi Arabia and Riyadh Season. Dubois smashed him to bits tonight, but he’ll never be able to replicate the growth of the sport and positive effect that AJ had on it. For now, AJ’s name is in the dirt when it comes to Boxing debates, but in decades from now we’ll look back at the effect he had on the sport and show him the respect he deserves.

To be the face you have to be more than a fighter, you have to have the talk, the personality and the aura about you. DDD has none of those things outside of being a talented boxer.
