All this album would have deserved to be rendered on a grand piano rather than on an old average quality piano. It would have make a major difference.

But also, the smaller piano and not perfect intonation adds to the homegrown flavour, which is a quality to be cherished in Ant's music. There's plenty of "perfect" piano recordings out there, but the small scale makes this recording special - such great music with such simple means!

Had it been recorded on a grand piano it would've sounded ostentatious and even perhaps pretentious. His compositional style sounds square on piano. I've always much preferred his guitar albums. I can listen to the two hours of 'Field Day' quite happily. After five or six minutes of this though, I find I've had enough. Bless 'im. Sorry Ant!!
