Outstanding discussion, Gents. Two ideas to add: Friedman: Inflation is always and everywhere a monetary phenomenon. There is TOO MUCH M2. Gradually reduce M2 and prices will sympathetically decline. Unfortunately, that will happen slowly, as PPI declines lead CPI declines. Regarding the inexcusable level of govt spending over the last three years, we should combine ideas from Warren Buffet with Vivek Ramaswamy to propose that Congress’s failure to produce a balanced annual budget WILL result in loss of office/benefits, but that this rule/LAW should only take effect on those Representatives and Senators not yet elected when the law is passed. As with passage of term limits legislation, that would incentivize currently serving members to do the right thing while still acting in their own self interest to keep their jobs. Inevitably, once citizens see the benefits of such legislation, the bad apple “lifers” Will be voted out of office in due course.

Bitcoin is a great investment. However, I'm not impressed Pompliano. He glossed over the question about what he would do if he were a politician. Like many libertarians his answer to poor choices made by politicians is to let the economy crash and to pay for all the spending by destroying people's lives. During difficult times... like a pandemic, the government has a responsibility to inject liquidity in the economy. His clumsy and simplistic ideas about how to manage the economy, betrays his lack of nuiance about the complexity of the problem and takes away from his message.

It’s liberal ideas like yours that perpetuate the problems. The pandemic spending is largely why we’re in this mess. We had no business closing down the world for a re-named flu…people are going to suffer. They are suffering now. The question is, do you prolong the suffering by pretending you’re slowly fixing the problem (which they clearly are losing ground on) or do you make the hard but necessary choices today, and allow the free market to work through it. A true free market is always the most efficient solution. A room of fewer than 1000 people trying to gauge the needs and wants of 400 million people scattered across a nation can never solve anything.
