If you’re wondering what RM meant when saying “giving up on 3, 5 or 6” it’s the idea that millennials, because of the economic situation we’re, have had to give up rights such as dating/marriage/kids then stable job and buying houses, so he’s like what’s one more (going up to 6). Baepsae is a great song you should check out that has this message through it all. Isn’t it… dope?

You're right. But with the "giving up on 6" it's not exactly accurate, I think. There is "officially" 3, 5, 7, 9 and 10. The giving up on 3 - courtship, marriage, children; giving up on 5 includes the previous three and employment and home ownership; and then there's giving up on 7 with interpersonal relationship and hope. RM said "Can I get a little bit of hope" which means he may be giving up but still wants hope. (Giving up on 9 also includes health and physical appearance; giving up on 10 means completely giving up - giving up life.) And yes, I agree with you that Baepsae/Silver Spoon is definitely worth listening to. It has similiar message too. I would recommend to watch both the lyrics video and the dance practice or live performance, it's dope indeed.

Actually the pronunciation of "6po / yookpo (giving up 6)" is same with that of beef jerky😆 Koreans would imediatly think of beef jerky listening that line lol. RM is saying he loves beef jerky so he should be giving up 6, cleverly playing with 2 languages again

RM's verse in this song is very deep actually. The numbers he mentioned (3, 5, 6) are all referring to the number of things that youth in South Korea decide to give up in life (the 6th being 'give-up on life' altogether). DOPE was released in 2015 which was the year when BTS finally found success in SK music industry. It was the turning point for them when a lead song released that year - I NEED YOU won their first music show (a weekly chart for pop music).

Honestly this song is also for all kpop idols. They literally work their neck off from not only the debut day but even way before that, like during their trainee days and at a really young age too. And although the work load intensifies more after they debut, they still have so much determination to put the best that they can out there. They are just as hardworking as any other professions out there and yet they are not given the recognition they deserve. This goes for all the idols in the kpop industry. i feel like they are not acknowledged enough for their hardwork.
