i don’t know how the ump could eject him. i mean there’s two ways i’m seeing this. one the batter is upset with the ump “bad” calls. personally i think those are good pitches. so my other view is the batter is upset with himself. there’s been many times ive stuck out and was upset with myself so im leaning on that for why the batter is upset.

but im not going to put the blame on the ump. for all i know the hire ups that are controlling the MLB are trying to get rid of all human emotions and forcing the ump to be like this. if it wasn’t the MLB then why hasn’t the ump been disciplined?

I hate it most for fans who pay money to show up at the ballgame just to watch one of their best players sent packing a third of the way into the game. Some families can only afford to go once or maybe twice a year, perhaps less. A kid in the stands only got to watch their favorite player for three innings that day because an umpire's feelings got hurt. It's a shame.

There are many sports where playing near the out-of-bound or on the edge of some zone is advantageous and depending on the sport, could nearly be considered the object of the game. Such sports would include tennis, volleyball and in baseball, pitching. We now have technology to end the problems that arise in these sports so we either use, and accept the technological changes or, continue to argue close calls.

There are two camps, the "traditionalist", and the "let's get it right" camps. Most major sports already have, or in are moving step by step into the latter of the two camps. I really want to see a trend start of teams just leaving when umps start power-tripping. Like if the nats just up and left after he got ejected for showing mild frustration, my guess is the MLB would (eventually) get on the umps' cases since the fans would stop coming to games that were just gonna stop because of a power tripping ump.

Strikes at the letters are so inconsistently called it's ridiculous. Most umps call knee to belt, and even the ones who call it at the letters get it 50% of the time at best.
@alanhess9306
@alanhess9306 3 жыл бұрын
Carpythesharky, The letter have nothing to do with the strike zone. The top of the zone is from the midpoint between the top of the pants and the top of the shoulders. The bottom of the zone is at the hollow beneath the knee. Perhaps if you knew the zone you would not be so confused.
@Carpythesharky
@Carpythesharky 3 жыл бұрын
@@alanhess9306 "Calling it at the letters" is just a saying for calling the high strike. I know the zone very well. The bottom of your letters generally end at the bottom of your breast. The bottom of your breast is about the mid point between belt and shoulder. Never heard that before? Regardless, it's still 50/50 "at the mid point between the top of pants and top of shoulders" if the ump will call it. There's an awesome graphic showing most missed calls. This is one of them.
@alanhess9306
@alanhess9306 3 жыл бұрын
@@Carpythesharky OK, I don't disagree with that but I think you were wrong to write " Most umps call knee to belt...." Many posters here berate the umpire when a strike is called below the knees, even though it was clearly at or above the hollow.
@Carpythesharky
@Carpythesharky 3 жыл бұрын
@@alanhess9306 Ahh, gotcha. Yeah I agree with you. "Knee to belt" is too strict in reality.

@alanhess9306 3 жыл бұрын
@@Carpythesharky I do remember, before the NL umpires and the AL umpires merged, that the NL umpires weren't calling strikes more than an inch or two above the belt. The AL umpires were calling a much higher zone. Since they merged I think umpires are calling the zone as described in the book, especially now that technology lets us analyze each pitch. I also think the strike zone graphic on the screen is seldom accurate.

Just swing the damn bat. How many “bad calls” are you gonna look at before you realize the zone is a little big today? He shouldn’t have been tossed but he only has himself to be upset with.
