roy canuck josh hamilton has a win as a pitcher, I think. The Ranger's game went into extra's, and to save the bullpen, they had Hamilton pitch an inning (scoreless, mind you.) Then the Ranger's got the lead, and they sent Hamilton to finish it out. I think that's what happened.

I was admitted to the hospital the day after this game took place, I was so out of it from my gallbladder having an infection (was in the hospital for 5 days). I did not watch this game or any of the games against the Dbacks that week. I later heard about it from a member of a cubs facebook group I'm apart of. I had to watch to see Rizzo make his pitching debut, and even 5 months later it's so much fun to actually see him on the mound.

I wish he actually gave it his all. It would be nice to see position players, aside from ichiro, who actually put in an attempt when called/given opportunity on the mound
@ryanaltfillisch71556 жыл бұрын
When we see position players pitch, managers tell the pitchers how hard to throw based on how valuable that player is to the team's success. Ichiro was a great player, but when he pitched, he was a bench bat with the Marlins and wasn't really a big factor in whether that team succeeded or not, so the manager had no problem letting Ichiro rev it up and put on a show. With Rizzo, he's an integral part of the Cubs, so there's no point in risking his arm by having him throw hard, so it makes sense to have him go out there and lob it in in hopes it screws up the batter's timing and they hit an easy pop-up or grounder.
@SHaro-np5wd6 жыл бұрын
Ryan Altfillisch Lol. I appreciate the explanation but I do watch the game. I'm aware the management is in charge of the position player when on the mound, informing on the speed/ actual effort put in. I was simply stating that Id love to enjoy an actual effort from position players just to see their pitching potential. Their a star on their regular position, obviously, but yeah.

I honestly want to see a position player pitch in the first inning to allow pitchers who aren't as good such as Chatwood who leads in walks to allow the starting pitchers to get warmed up more than just the "warmup" there's a specific term but I can't seem to remember it. As for people saying the Cubs suck, if the Cubs sucked, they wouldn't have the best record in the NL. However, I do agree that this was a stupid idea considering Rizzo is one of the Cubs best players.
