A useful feature to me is the selection tool sharpening a small part of the image in an additional pass when that part of the image was different than the whole. Your parrot was very flat on to the camera but blurry due to the 1/25 shutter speed. If the bird were more facing the camera so the beak was a lot closer to the camera than the eyes (perhaps holding a peanut), you could add false depth of field by sharpening only that near part thus avoiding oversharpening the whole image adding artifacts. The auto selection tool is good at recognizing whole birds but you can clear the selection and only paint in the small part that is out of focus. I find that I often use Photo AI for an overall image but fall back to Sharpen AI for a small part (usually to improve depth of field). I don't use Lightroom but see this useful for both stand alone and as a PS plugin. I have no idea if your next video addressed this.

Does it matter what the settings are in the 'Edit Photo With Topaz' dialog box? Mine defaults to TIFF, sRGB, 8bit, 240 res, LZW compression. I am using Panasonic Lumix S5 raw files and final output will be to screen (jpg) and not print.

Thanks Anthony. Always enjoy your videos. To me I think this software is not quite there yet. Don't get me wrong, by that I mean it does improve images such as your bird in the demo but your bird still has some weird stuff going on with it's feathers and it now looks like it's been edited. It's a tough assignment given the texture of the subject and how blurry it was to start with. Think I'll save my money though and wait for a few future updates. All these applications get better with time. Cheers from south western Australia. 😀

I use Lightroom to manage my files and to do initial tone and color adjustments, then open the images as smart objects in photoshop for more detailed edits. Where in this workflow would you recommend using Topaz Denoise, Topaz Sharpening or Topaz Photo AI? Thanks Anthony for your videos - I know it takes a lot of work and it’s appreciated.

The xxx AI software from Topaz works really well I think. However yesterday I opend a file in photo AI and the colors a very yellow tone to them and a very matte look.. At first I didnt understand why this happened.. The picture was shot with a Srgb profile and exported to PhotAI with a Profoto profile... after changing the profile to Srgb in the export window from Lightroom , the colors are what it used to be.. I can't remember this happened to me before.. Is this a new thing, or do I need to reinstall the photo AI software?. Thanks fot your videos . they are very helpfull!

I bit off topic, but I'd love to hear your opinion on C1's stance on perpetual vs subscription models. I went through 2 upgrades with them (ver 21 and ver 22). I'm a bit pissed off that they now want $179 to move to their subscription model (which is actually more than what Adobe charges with way more functionality).

When I try and use Sharpen AI through LR, it's looks like it starts the swap process but the actual program never opens up to be able to use through LR? Ideas?

I always use sharpen AI with my work flow, as Luminar sharpen AI can take up to 7/8 minutes no matter what photo I give to it. I have a good specs comp, so can not understand why it takes so long, especially when Luminar is very quick with all other editing.

Thx. Do you recommend Topaz Sharpen also for normal Sharpening instead of Lightroom or only for Lensblur and Motionblur?
