Thanks. I just yesterday had the idea to sharpen the whole image in topaz, then use a big soft white brush on a black layer mask to reveal the sharpening. I keep the brush away from the edges to avoid the possibility of halos and the softness of the brush means I can let the sharpness fall off toward the most distant edge of the subject. It worked great. Sharpening is better in Sharpen, masking (with a soft brush on a layer mask) is better in Photoshop,

Anthony, greatly appreciate this series on the best use of the Topaz Labs modules. I have all three modules so the tips are most welcome. On a more basic levels it would be useful for you to take a few minutes in a future video to discuss the Preference Settings in each module. Most are self-evident, but a few beg a bit more discussion. In Denoise AI there is a setting for which AI processor to use, including options to use the PC's graphic card. No clue which choice would be best. There is also a setting which sets the amount of memory consumption to use (defaults to MEDIUM). More memory usually means more performance, but is that true here (assuming the RAM is available)? Finally, for Denoise AI, under the SAVE options there is a switch to "Apply RAW Color Correction" with a default to ON. Again, no clue whether to change that or not. Sharpen AI only has one questionable Preference setting: Under the SAVE options is a switch for "Apply Auto Lens Correction." I have that turned OFF, but await your advice. Topaz Labs should put your videos in their SUPPORT section!

If you leave the AI processor as Auto, the Topaz software does the right thing in my experience, which is likely using your GPU. IMHO, this setting is mostly there to allow you to choose between GPUs if you have more than one or to fall back to CPU processing if there is a problem with the GPU processing.

Thanks for the video Anthony, by the way I’m assuming if you wanted to make other adjustments as an additional layer you would just click on the adjustment layer and that would bring up an additional layer that is not a smart object? Also would it affect the image if you use Dehaze slider after the sharpening or would that still create fringing ? Thanks Rick

Appreciate all your work. I run DeNoise first, but do you recommend DeNoise first and then do masking / edit or do you recommend Masking the subject (i.e. bird) and then run DeNoise? If there is noise then masking is harder at the edges so lots of add and subtract

Why not open as a Smart Object (at 4:08), then duplicate the layer (at 4:53) by right-click and "New Smart Object via Copy"? That way, everything remains non-destructive. My workflow is derived from yours, Anthony. 1. Open a RAW as a Smart Object (usually using "Edit In" -> "Open Smart Object in Photoshop..." in Lightroom Classic). 2. Set profile, white balance and tint, and the Optics tab, disable sharpening and (luminance) noise reduction. 3. Apply Denoise AI to that Smart Object. 4. Apply a Camera RAW filter to the Smart Object for the rest of the corrections. 5. Apply Sharpen AI to the Smart Object for sharpening. This is a fully non-destructive workflow. Just remember that you must use "New Smart Object via Copy" to duplicate the layer, otherwise editing the corrections you made in step 2 will change both copies of the layer!

When I right click in LR Classic to "Edit In" and choose Sharpen AI from the list. Sharpen AI never opens. What could be the issue? I have the entire suite of Topaz products loaded on mt Mac. Everything else opens fine.

I had to open PS in Rosetta to get Studio2 to work. All other plug ins should be put into the PS plug in folder.
