If it is birds or mammals we can see from its anatomy, like beak types, horns, or teeth. But about chameleon and butterflyfish, can we actually differ the species fromthe skeletons while we commonly identify them by outer coloration ?

I learned recently how to distinguish reptiles and mammals skeletons. In reptiles, the ribs extend down to the ribs, not in mammals.
