Every word is still relevant. Every word. The effect pedals create different sounds, but Tom's techniques are what make it special. His left handed, rapid fire pickup selector switching is insane. People think it's a cut off button, but he turns the volume off for one pickup and leaves the other one on full, then switches between them for that stutter sound. Controlling the effects when they are used the way Tom uses them, is difficult. Nothing is subtle. That flange is turned all the way up, like most of his effects. It's kind of insane. His tone remains sneakily clean.

I'm 56 and grew up with the coolest music of all time. Rage Against or all the bands in the Seattle grunge scene. Nirvana when the band was still an insider tip or Rammstein in front of maybe 800 people in a music tent. Above all, concert tickets were much cheaper in relation to the salary >30 years ago than they are today. I didn't earn much when I was younger but 1-2 concerts a week were still no problem.

Powerful music and lyrics. Got almost all of their albums. The guitarist is insane. Thanx for your reaction.

I'm currently learning all of Tim Commerford's bass parts so well immersed into RATM and Audioslave. Highly recommend Bombtrack, Wake Up, Down Rodeo, Testify, Guerilla Radio, Bullet In The Head, Calm Like A Bomb, How I Could Just Kill A Man, and Maggie's Farm Emphasis on Maggie's Farm and Guerilla Radio bc those are my favorite to play

morello uses different things for his scratching sounds. in this case he has a modified guitar with a toggle switch so he can kill the signal rhythmically, and you can see him using it with his right hand. he uses a slide to make that noise and the toggle switch to make it go on and off. some other times he also uses pitch shifting pedal called whammy from digitech, he has the first model which used to be a little glitchy and that’s part of the sound. often uses modulation effects like flanger or phaser. all sorts of stuff. no other guitarist has ever managed to get such a wide range of sounds from a guitar.
@markoll17 ай бұрын
Guitar solo is played using slide and then he has a kill switch in the guitar, which he operates with the left hand. Thanks for keeping this kind of music alive!

Tom Morello is GOD tier with a guitar, Fact. When you’re done working through the RatM catalogue move onto Prophets of Rage for more Morello goodness (and a few surprises I won’t ruin) Forget where I read it but: The best thing about RatM is their music is still relevant. The worst thing about RatM is their music is still relevant…….

Danish dude here. I was 11 in 93. I was collecting basketball cards and Shaq was the biggest star back then. EVERYBODY wanted Shaq cards! The older you get the more fun it is to think back. Shaq used to be as big as Kobe in ppls minds... generation and times change and we forget how exited we was about past things... P.s. I was listening to Rage back then already! My first music albums I bought when I was 10: Metallicas Black Album. LOL p.p.s I have spent AT LEAST 500 days of my life at concerts and music festivals watching well above a 1000 live concerts... Maybe it is even double. I spent the past three decades going out serveral times a month... Live music is the shit. and I like to party! LOL

So during the solo. He uses his right hand on his pick up switch. And one side is muted the other is full noise. Plus a mixture if chords. As flr the effects Im pretty sure a flanger and maybe a phaser depending on times

Rage against the machine were responsible for the fires breaking out at Woodstock 99. Limp Biscuit came on right after rage and got blamed for it. Rage set the American flag on fire ass they walked off stage, and fires immediately broke out. Was a wild ass weekend.

Saw Rage play in '93 (couple wks after this gig, with Tool supporting!) and in '95...amazing band live! From their 3rd album, the track "Mic Check" is their most hiphop track, my personal favourite though is "Without A Face" from the 2nd album Evil Empire - recommend checking those out and, well, pretty much every other RATM song there is after! :D

All of these will get you a boost in views, likes, and if you have any kind of empathy, it'll turn you into an activist! Also his solo work is fire... But for God sakes have the lyrics to read, and go into them never having read them or heard the song... The in the moment reaction is what people love in these videos... Some will catch you off guard, and that's the thumbnail!

Okay Anthony - Tom Morello Used Only a few Effects Pedals One was a Crybaby '' wah wah '' Pedal (Just Like Hendrix ,Stevie Ray Vaughan Used. Many Other's) But Thats Mainly For His Rhythm Playing and a Few solo's - His Main (Crazy Sound' Scape) Came from a Digitech (Company Name) ''Whammy Pedal (Effect pedal name) This is a Pedal you Can set For Detuning, harmonizing, up tuning sound's (Setting's Like going up or Down in Pitch. You can really make Unique Sound. And it Had a Separate pedal you step on and you Can rock back and Forth. -To bring the Pitch up or down. the settings could be Harmonized In Parelle 4th's ,3rd etc. an Many other madness lol ( Dime ''bag'' Darrel from Pantera Also used a Whammy pedal R.I.P.)) But also, when Tom was coming up and Had a Custom Guitar made. He went to the Guitar factory they had A prototype guitar He wanted a Toggle switch for his Pickup Selection and It was Making a Strange noise as they switched the Bridge and Neck Pick-ups. He said ''Oh wow what's that sound''. they said oh it's just a glitch the finished Guitar will not make any noise...He was like nah i want that Prototype i can use that. So here you See him Using the Toggle switch Rocking it up and Down as it's switching the Pick up setting it has almost a strange scream. He is also using the Whammy pedal to bring the Pitch up or down and other sounds. At the same time. his tremolo Bar ( AKA Whammy bar.) all this in a rhythmic pattern. (Tom Once said he wanted his Guitar to Make Turn table Like Sound's and solo's.)

Rage Against The Machine is one of those bands for whom their music only become more relevant after they broke up/stopped making music... they broke up before the bush jr and the patriot act, and before half of american adult's open embrace of fascism. and there is nothing funnier about RATM than when people say RATM went "woke" (for some reason conservative rap and metal fans really like RATM [without a hint of irony as to what their music is about]), like when weren't they?, tom morello has even challenged them to find a RATM song that isn't "woke" so he can remove it from his library of work...lol

And for worse there are almost no successful bands/artists left, who criticize the system that creates injustice, intolerance and poverty although we would have enough resources to live a dignified life! These days a band like RATM would be not successful anymore. It’s about Barbie Girls and ken who will , wakawaka-shaking booties
