People coming up with stats generally show a massive lack of understanding of the game. You're a prime example of that or a 12 years old. The people who upvoted you as well. Messi belong to the holy trinity of football with Pelé and Maradona. He's by all all means in the GOAT discussion and I personally think that he is, but it has nothing to do with his stats. Your generation is screwed.

@@lethalchocobo1886 boy I've probably been watching football longer than you, the fact that you just came into a comment that has nothing to do with you and start making stupid assumptions is what buffles me.. I was born in 1983, I got to watch many football legends who came before the era of Messi and CR7. Ronaldo Nazario was the guy who made me fall inlove with the beautiful game then Ronaldinho after him.. I can talk the whole day about this but the next time you wanna insult people who did nothing to you for know reason, start by checking the guy in front of the mirror.

Just to put how beloved and weirdly obsessed Argentinians is with Messi one of the Argentine coaches sat on the sidelines with a Messi tattoo on his ankle during the World Cup tournament, while a teammate tattooed Messi with the World Cup trophy after they won it. When they finally won the Copa America the year prior to the world cup everyone on that team ran to hail Messi and he was celebrated more than the trophy itself. Not to mention one of the Argentine players is nicknamed "Messi's bodyguard"

Man, I’m same age as Leo and one of the highlights of my life has been being a Barça fan since 17 years old and watching this man week after week. It’s crazy the amount of inspiration and entertainment one can draw just by watching La Pulga. Long live the god of the game.

In my opinion, and it’s quite a popular opinion is that luis Suarez is the 3rd best player of that generation behind Messi and Ronaldo. Although he was one of the most controversial players to play the game due to racism and biting players 😂 A good video to watch is his top 30 goals 👍

Messi winning the league had nothing to do with ronaldo leaving. In the 9 years Ronaldo played in spain, he could only win 2 league titles while playing in the historically largest team in the world. Messi won 6 in the same time span

Yeah man, Messi is the absolute goat, but Luis Suarez was insane. He was a goal machine, but he also had dribble and vision. And he was strong like a bull, so defenders had a horrible time trying to contain him. He was also incredibly smart, and realized that he was no longer the star of the team when he went to Barcelona, and instead befriended Messi and became partner in crime both scoring and assisting. Suarez had a couple of years at Liverpool where he was the absolute best player in the Premier League.
