I have experienced a number of big-name stars performing this song and none of them have done it anywhere close to this performance, Angelina Jordan at 10 was unbelievable.

Thank you for another reaction to Angelina. In my opinion, she is the best singer in the world, and there are thousands of others who would agree with me. Every moment you spend featuring her on your channel will being you great emotional satisfaction. There are so many things I get from this performance. Some I recognised immediately and those I missed were brought to my attention by the more observant Angelina fans (her Angels) and I thank them for letting me know what I had missed. (1) The realisation that at the age of 10 Angelina has shed all childishness from her voice. (2) A feeling that the placement of the spotlight at the beginning of her performance was deliberate. If it was, then, to my mind, it was a brilliant move. (3) The fact that Angelina arranged this song and that the band kept out of the way and let her voice be the focus. (4) The incredible low note she sang for the word "good" at the beginning and end of the performance. (5) That wonderful crescendo at the end. (6) The was Angelina used her left arm and hand throughout the performance (7) The way she changed the microphone from her right hand to left hand, so that she could flip her hair back with her right hand. (8) The cheeky smile she gave to the cameraman when she realised he had focused on her at about 3.25 in your reaction video. (9) The sideways look and grin she gives to her instrumentalists just after she curtsies to the audience -- as if to say, "Yeah, we killed it, guys! Now let's go get some ice cream!" (10) The almost instantaneous switch from "performance" mode to that of a young child who,curseyed and gave a sweet smile to the audience as an acknowledgement of their applause. Others have commented that the performance by Nina Simone should be considered the "gold" standard for this song. Until recently, I had never watched her performance, but have now done so. They just cannot be compared, for Angelina's arrangement is totally different

Welcome.... :) The best voice alive . This is Angelina's 6th original song to go with her 185 covers. She is 17 years old and in her 12th year as a recording artist. Angelina won Norway's Got Talent at age 8 covering Billie Holiday. Her versions of jazz classics from her pre-teen years are the most beautiful jazz songs I have ever heard. Angelina has always created her own arrangements and has completely re-arranged classics like "Bohemian Rhapsody", "Suspicious Minds", "Billie Jean", "California Dreaming" among many others. I know comparing Angelina to Amy Winehouse is meant as a compliment. We Angelina angels acknowledge Angelina has some physical resemblance to Amy Winehouse and at times, her singing reminds many of Amy. Amy was her own, unique artist, beloved by many. Angelina is also her own unique artist with a growing fanbase. We would appreciate anyone making the comparison, do so only once and take the time to learn about Angelina as a songwriter, singer and most importantly, the loving, empathic person she is. Born Angelina Jordan Astar on January 10, 2006 in Oslo, Norway to her Norwegian mother, Sara Astar and her Swedish father, Gerry Christian Slattman. Angelina started singing around 18 months of age, after listening to Whitney Houston on KZbin. She quickly became obsessed with listening to music videos and her maternal grandmother, Mery Zamani got Angelina interested in classic jazz. Mery Zamani is Iranian and was a prodigy as an artist and poet while growing up in Iran. Angelina attended the Oslo Waldorf School and participated in the Oslo School of Music and Performing Arts after-school program, where starting around age 4, she had training in music but no vocal training. Her teachers were smart enough to not attempt to change what she was doing vocally. More recently she along with her grandmother have designed and made the clothing she wears on stage. Why Angelina always performs barefoot At age 6, while traveling in the Middle East with her mother and grandmother, Angelina noticed a girl around her age standing on the side of the road, asking people to step on her bathroom scale to be weighed in hopes of getting some money. Angelina took off her shoes so as to not get the scale dirty and stepped on the scale many times to make the girl feel better. Angelina befriends the girl who was not wearing shoes and has scars on her feet, and learns she is an orphan. The orphan girl tells Angelina how beautiful she thinks her shoes are. Angelina says her shoes don’t fit her well and she wants to give her shoes to the orphan girl who thanks Angelina for giving her the shoes. Angelina asked the girl what she wanted to be when she grew up and the girl replied, “I want to become a doctor, but that will never happen since I have no parents and I have siblings so I have to do whatever is necessary for us to survive.” Angelina told the girl to never give up on her dreams. The poor girl asked Angelina what she wanted to be when she grew up and Angelina replied that she wanted to sing for the whole world. The poor girl said she would pray every day so Angelina’s dream would come true. Angelina still says she thinks of that homeless girl every day and has always performed barefoot to remind her of all the children who are less fortunate. At age 9, she became the youngest published author in Norway’s history by writing a book about this encounter in the Middle East. PLEASE PURCHASE Angelina’s book from her merchandise store on her official website, angelinajordanofficial Angelina, at age 6 and 7, did record a few songs in a recording studio at her school, most notably “I Who Have Nothing”, a truly remarkable performance for a 7 year old. At age 7, Angelina’s audition on Norway’s Got Talent, was a cover of Billie Holiday’s “Gloomy Sunday”, a song which was banned by a number of European countries during World War II because authorities worried the song would increase the suicide rate. Truly bizarre that this is the song to launch the career of a child musical prodigy. One of the judges on NGT cried. Musicians working with Angelina would call her the boss since she knew exactly how she wanted to sing the song and would confidently instruct the musicians. While one could say Angelina was mimicking other artists, there is no doubt she had her own style and created her own arrangements, even at this early age. Angelina had turned 8 years old for her next performance on NGT, covering Billie Holiday’s “I’m a Fool to Want You” singing acapella which was required by NGT unless the singer also played an instrument while singing. This was the Judge’s cut round of the competition to trim the number of vocalists who passed their audition, and was not performed in front of an audience. In the Semi Final round of NGT, Angelina sang “Bang Bang” which was written by Sonny Bono and was first performed by his wife Cher but is best known sung by Nancy Sinatra. The improvement in each performance is incredible even though there were only a couple months between them. In the Finals, Angelina did a cover of George Gershwin’s, “Summertime” and won the contest, capturing 46% of the votes from the ten finalists. When asked what she would like to do with the prize money she won (500,000 kroner or about $80,000), Angelina replied, “I want to give it to the poor children”. The vast majority of the prize money was donated to charity benefitting poor children. Record company executives flew their private jets to Norway to attempt to sign 8 year old Angelina but all were thankfully rebuked. Disney also made an offer but not accepted. In December 2014, Angelina realized a life-long desire to sing at the Save the Children's Peace Prize Celebration which is part of the Noble Peace Prize celebration. Angelina’s family took her to United States, Brazil, Germany, France, United Kingdom, Russia, South Korea, Singapore and Mexico among other corners of Earth, to perform for heads of state and to help raise money for charity. All before Angelina turned 14. At age 11, Angelina recorded her “It’s Magic” album which has, at times, been in the top 10 best selling jazz albums. The album can be purchased on iTunes or Amazon. On June 27, 2018, at age 12, Jordan performed “Fly Me to the Moon” for Quincy Jones in The O2 Arena in London. She has said that was the high point of her young career which was already in it’s 6th year. During 2018, Angelina lost her paternal grandfather, her friend Avicii and one of her idols, Aretha Franklin. She did a moving tribute for each. In 2019, Angelina accepted an invitation to compete in the 2nd season of America’s Got Talent (AGT), The Champions. She had, since age 3, wanted to perform for Simon Cowell and she earned his praise with her genius arrangement of “Bohemian Rhapsody”. The surviving members of Queen loved it so much they put a link to it on their Twitter and allowed Angelina to copyright her version. Angelina’s family refused to sign any agreement with AGT which would give Simon any control over her career. Angelina, before age 14, had covered more than 130 songs from 80 different artists, spanning at least 8 genres, all of which are available on KZbin. Angelina has always made changes to each song she covers and often her version is preferred over the original. On KZbin, search on The Complete Works of Angelina Jordan as Rusty Shackleford has put all songs in one file and has a complete playlist in the description of that video. The pandemic hit shortly after her performances on AGT and likely caused a change of plans by her family, most notably her Uncle Michael who is her manager. Her family agreed to a contract with Republic Records in August 2020. Republic Records declared Angelina Jordan their highest priority new artist. Reportedly her family requested Republic to allow her as normal a childhood as possible and therefore have yet to fully promote her. During the pandemic, Angelina was often seen buying meals for the homeless on the streets of Los Angeles. In November 2020, Angelina released “Million Miles” which she wrote after the passing of her beloved maternal grandfather. She dedicated the song to anyone who has ever lost a loved one. Angelina had previously released, 3 other original songs: “What is Life”, “Oslo” and “Shield” In April 2021, her original “7th Heaven” was released. A jazzy, danceable, inspiring song. Angelina had concerts in Norway in July 2022. In December 2022, Angelina performed at the Asian American Awards in Los Angeles. On 2/27/23, Angelina performed at the FIFA Awards ceremony in Paris, France, with a viewing audience in the millions. On May 5th, 2023, Angelina released her original "Love Don't Let Me Go" We know once her family believes the time is right and allows Republic Records to fully promote her, she will become the superstar she has always dreamt and believed she would be.

e pluribus u-num With all the gimmicks that are used in what is known as music today it is so refreshing to come across a being that does not need auto tune, lightshows, dancers, outrageous costumes, bands, or orchestras to cover their weaknesses because she has none. AJ can perform a Capella, or with one or two instruments to follow her lead and give you chills with each performance. I have always enjoyed all genres of music, and being 75, I have experienced the best the industry has to offer, from the early 50s, to 2023, but I have never been moved emotionally in the past anywhere close to what Angelina Jordan does from 7 to 17. When I heard Celine Dion perform in a tint in Québec when she was a child, I predicted she would be the next world superstar, and the rest is history. Celine did not sign a record contract until she was in her early 20s. David Foster, who made Celine a star flew to Norway after Angelina wone NGT and tried to sign her, but her family wanted to stay in control of her future. Angelina, at 13, appeared on AGT and getting worldwide recognition signed with the largest record company in the world at age 14, Republic Records. The story is that Monty Lipman, the CEO, and known as the Star Maker, personally signed her even without meeting AJ, he was shown a video of her performance. Angelina Jordan will be the next Super Nova very soon. As for being her biggest fan, e pluribus u-num.

I saw her at the age of 4 , how this child was deep into the old masters of jazz at Bodil Niska´s "Bare Jazz Café" in Oslo. At midday she was together with her mom . The tiny childs head almost covered by big earphones, deep into music like the rest of the world did not matter. I spoke to Bodil and asked who this child was and she answered - "she is Angelina out of this world". Bodil Niska is a top jazz saxophonist and she might have been Angelinas first mentor

Angelina is a very lovable, kind and caring person and at some point you start feel protective, proud and want her to succeed. I do not hear or see nerves here. She said she is never nervous to perform: she enters a place where everything is good and happy when on stage and the crowd gives her energy. What I do hear is a slow and beautiful build up with the big blast at the end and many beautiful things all in the way. It's not just the runs but also the way she plays with rhythm and pauses to create more tension is incredible. I've listened so many times to this performance and it just never gets old. Thanks! I think you’re understanding why so many of us think Angelina is the best we’ve ever heard. She sings beautifully in so many genres, but jazz has been in her bones since she started. I found a video that I hadn’t seen before. I think she’s 8 or 9, singing live at an outdoor jazz concert. The song is Etta James’s “At Last”. I just love this performance. It’s not even perfect, but just watch how a very young child understands the essence of jazz. It just flows out of her, naturally and easily. Also I am dying to here you put out a song where you are predominantly singing. If you haven't heard of the Righteous Brothers you should check them out. Bill Medley , who is one have of the Righteous Brothers has a deep voice very similar to yours . A good video to check out by them would be You've lost that loving feeling. Angelina has said that she never gets nervous. Even as a little girl. By the time of this performance she is already a veteran of live performances. I think she strategically starts off a little subdued and just builds up as the song goes on until she reaches that powerful climax. If she came blazing out of the gate the finale wouldn’t have the same impact. She does her own vocal arrangements, even at this age, so she knows what she is doing. There is a home movie of her at the piano working out this song.

Just incredible! She sounds like she has had 40 years of top level experience! She did a Live version of "I'll Be There " The Jacksons at a charity concert, please do it and bear in mind she was feeling poorly but did not wish to cancel to let people down, so very moving and a Brilliant cover ( possible a little younger than this one ) . Loving your support to my all time favourite artist, and trust me I am not a youngster!

Hey you probably know by now, but Angelina won Norway's Got Talent at 7 years old! You should check it out. 👍 Well she did start singing at the age of 2. She liked hanging out with her grandmother and listening to the oldies. No Twinkle Twinkle little star for Angelina. She is an old Soul...absolutely.

You see nerves? She doesn't have nerves. At 10 she is already an old hand at TV performances, concerts, world tours, you name it. She starts softly because she is building up a dynamic. You barely notice it, but the power creeps up as the song progresses until it bursts with that amazing crescendo. She is the master craftsman of song. Even with a live top jazz band she is still front and centre of the whole performance. If there is still some shyness it is her camera work, but even that is getting there.

I think she was taking her time and building up for the powerful ending, which she often does. In an interview after NGT she said that she was pleasantly surprised that she was not nervous when she started singing. She has also said that she is not a very talkative person and prefers singing or writing over talking.
