I have this. What I love about Marvel Select Abomination (as well as Juggernaut) is that it's an action figure and also a weapon -- you can throw it into the head of a burglar, bully, etc. and you're safe

Marvel Select seems like the perfect balance between premium and durability. Giving it to ur nephews or nieces to play with has higher probability of surviving than giving ur usual premium collectibles like SH Figuarts.

I have fond memories of Marvel Select figures. I gave my son a Red Hulk a Green Hulk and Spider-man for Christmas when he was 1, he just turned 9 today and still has all 3 with the only casualty being Spidey's pinky finger and some slightly loose joints on the Green Hulk. The durability of them was excellent.

Thanks Anthony. I love it when you view these older figures. It is quite a contrast to the offerings received now. This product (and Marvel Select's Thing) would be very easy to review considering the whole articulation segment could be summed up in one sentence. Yet the sculpt is worthy of the price as it defines the ultimate Abomination action figure on the market today. And still this was created more then a decade ago and it still has more work done to it (save the articulation) then most other modern products.

I find these really nostalgic. Reminds me of FYE, Suncoast, and my local comic store and the early early days of figures and collecting. The really detailed sculpt and paint. It was definitely a division between the big box toys and what these are. I really appreciate Diamond regularly reissueing figures. I'm not even sure when that originally released but it's been omnipresent as long as I've been collecting. It's gotta be at nearly 15 years old.
@antoniocdechavez44095 ай бұрын
I agree about Marvel Select having better details most of the time. For all the restrictions they supposedly are confined to contractually, they more than make up in detail and sometimes in accessories. The Juggernaut version of Select still is my favorite. It's like Bowen statue details given a few articulations. This isn't a bad fig to have especially that ML still hasn't updated their Abomination. The last one we got was too short and in desperate need to an update. There was this Video Game baf version that was the right size, but can only pass as a movie version and not a comic book. I suppose Hasbro doesn't really have this character as a priority.

Not a big marvel collector but I’m in for a large beefy figure, I don’t put my figures in crazy poses so I’m not bothered by limited articulation, I got an earlier version of this figure from a few years ago and it came packed out with a base as well as the hulk also.
@CandGoods5 ай бұрын
I grabbed one of these a few years ago, but I only grabbed him for his head. I had built the Marvel Legends Gamerverse Abomination BAF, which I like the body, do not like the head of that game design, so I grabbed the Marvel Select Abomination, did some hollowing out and glued in a new socket, and repainted it to better match the colors of that Gamerverse Abomination. Not accurate to any source material of the character, but I love it.

@tomtudorweaver10785 ай бұрын
I've been very tempted by this figure over the years, the Gamerverse Legends version is a lot of fun save for the head sculpt so I've been okay with that version, plus I got it second hand for dead cheap and I don't even think the Select version would fit on that shelf. I started collecting in the late 2000's and here in the UK most of what I collected was 7" figures that looked great but didn't move much; Neca, Marvel Select and DC Collectibles/Direct made up most of my collection, Hasbro didn't creep into my collection until maybe 2015 with Black Series, then 2017 was when I got into Marvel Legends (although as a young child I had some Toybiz figures). Whilst I do really enjoy a lot of Hasbro figures for their articulation and fun factor, it's hard to beat the aesthetic of a lot of those 7" lines, especially Diamond Select. They still feel very old school in a lot of ways, for better or for worse, but I think they get things right more often than they get things wrong. Quite often the worst case scenario is you get a figure that won't move much but will look incredible, their recent Crimson Dynamo looks great on the shelf, I can't wait to get a hold of their upcoming Annihilus, in general a lot of their bigger villain figures make their way into my Marvel Legends display, their comic Thanos (either version) or Ultron are still solid too.

I can appreciate the sculpt and paint, but the dated articulation and weird proportions (I know he's an abomination, so could be any which way), kill it for me. I want my action figures to pose; if not on the shelf then when I take them down to mess about with. I want newer better pose ability, not last decades. Fair play to anyone who just wants a big dramatic statue.
