honestly I always had a special place in my heart for super Saiyan 4- since as a kid, it obviously seemed like they were trying to top themselves with each new transformation design wise; they had it look more evolved/intimidating with ss 1-3, so it only felt natural when I got to dragon ball GT and ss4 Goku looked way different than the previous Saiyan forms. He just looked more stronger and badass, but thats just me i suppose- great review!

I think the point of these God transformations in super is a reference to ‘ you can become something bigger than yourself ‘ Yes they’re “apes” and the design looks cool but the cool concept Is they’re apes who attained the power/powers of a God. They evolved from their mindless brute ways

@@MuShinnen yeah but that's kinda the point and I feel that was only shown more in the namek saga, frieza calls him a monkey a mindless brute ape which to an extent was kinda true yet goku defeated him and gave him a second chance, a brute ape was able to overcome his ways and become more that's why the super saiyan transformation is a legend and a legendary form and I agree SSB looks preety lame but SS1, SS2, SS3, KAIOKEN all just change colors and hair yet everyone loves those? It's rather odd to me

After the original super saiyan this is the best looking one just by how sheer different it is from anything previous. No laziness of just changing the hair color here, it really feels like something new. About the figure, as someone who has been collecting this line for years, the QC issues bother me a lot. Especially since these figures used to be extremely solid. By watching the review I can see how loose this one feels.

I've preordered this figure some months ago and now am very worried about how many problems it'll have when it arrives. Even a 7 would be too high for this many QC issues. Demoniacal Fit can make figures better than this at half the price. And it probably will.

@@JonoSSD No. Demoniacal Fit will not make a better figure for cheaper. They will make a 75 percent copy and charge 75 percent of the price. I collect both and demoniacal is getting close, but plastic weight and qc still aren't as good as Bandai.

Ss4 Goku is my top favorite transformation. I remember seeing for the first time on toonami on a Saturday night. On my birthday way back in 2004 my dad got me the Jakks Pacific ss4 Goku at Toys R Us and at the time I used to live in a homeless shelter and best believe that figure got me through hard times so this figure and Transformation means a lot to me so I thanked SH Figuarts for making this figure come back to life. I’ve had mines for about a week now I pre ordered him from Luna Park. After having it in my hands all thought’s memories came back to me on what I mentioned before. My QC is perfect I have no loose parts at all so I’m grateful, because of that in my opinion he’s the best articulated SHF Goku in the line. I love your reviews and your honesty on figures you don’t hold back and I’m glad you don’t and that’s what makes you stand out compare to other action figure reviewers. Keep it up bro!!! 🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾

I LOVE the ssj4 in general, if I had to choose I would say I like Vegeta more in that transformation, but both him and Goku have an amazing aesthetic. Just the fact that it connects back to the dark and wild side of the sayians roots (the Oozaru form) is enough for me to love this design

Love the design of the form and it's a shame about the QC on this guy. I got the Kong ssj4 vegito to compliment this guy and it is a fantastic figure with no QC issues. Can't wait to see Vegeta come out in 1-2 years.

Ok, so hear me out. My SSj4 Goku does not have any looseness Anthony ran into, but I had hell of a loose head on my Cooler, and my Hit had popping arm in his shoulder, also really annoying. Both are Vietnamese release. So, any further Vietnamese releases will have 50% chance of having qc issues which is hell of a bummer considering the prices these thing run for. If your current figures do not have any defects and you hit the jackpots (which is absurd, because prices do not justify you gambling on if your fig will come without qc issues), it does not mean you will not run into it down the line. This sht needs to stop!

SSJ4 I love the most. I appreciate SSj3 far more then SSJ2 for everyone except teen Gohan. SSJ4 takes up back to the Dragonball roots. He's got a tale and partial an ape man. It's a true physical transformation that I think screens monkey god vs normal human with a dye job. SSJ3 is also impressive looking but SSJ4 does much more and well.

I Said it before, I’ll say it again. Best goku saiyan form ever. All the other saiyan forms just have different hair and very slight modifications to the body “if at all”. This is a full body transformation, unique, and unmistakable in every way.

I just got mine and he does have some bummy ankles, and a rather loose head. The shoulders work well but to me they look off. Bummer that he can’t do back kicks but I might shave a little of the butt down. Over all I am so happy to have him and really want a SS4 Vegeta & SS5 Gogeta. Great review, it’s always fun to mess with the figure while watching you review it!

I used to find this design utterly ridiculous; I kinda really dig it now. It's also really surprising how Bandai can f*** up an easy home run like the recent Goku Saiyan 2.0 but then deliver such a strong sculpt and almost flawless face/hair. I hope more reviewers call out the factory change to Vietnam and the subsequent downgrade in joints because perhaps if Bandai gets a big enough reaction out of it they'll probably supervise future releases in a more strict manner. No matter how good an action figure looks and moves: if it has floppy joints it's a very frustrating experience.

I ordered this figure from amazon as in fulfilled and shipped by amazon and it says it will arrive in 2 week's. Has anyone else experienced this? Furthermore 2 day shipping was not an option . So I am kinda wanting someone to answer why this is. As long as I get it in hand by the 15th i really do not care. I am just hoping I get it. Also design wise ssj 4 is the best.

Just got my SS4 Goku and Cooler today from Japan today. The head is a bit loose and the tail is firm on mine. I give it a 9/10 deducting a point for that loose head. Ultimately, personally Speaking. Its the 4th Best Release Figuarts did this year. My Top 5 releases are : 1.) Raditz 2.) Cooler 3.)Burter/Guldo 4.) SSJ4 Goku 5.) Frieza

I believe if you had the China version it would be 9/10 only cause you're personally not a fan of the new butterfly joints... Which to be fair was reengineered for an accurate Kamehameha stance.

Definite 9/10 for me I feel like figuarts QC has been kinda shite lately and I’m not quite sure why. Like every other figure is a little fucky. This guy has been great though, nothing like my SSJ4 vegeta which literally has the ball peg that connects the abdomen to the waist placed off center? Idk how that even happens. Makes an ugly gap between his jeans and his torso and also just hard to lineup the two upper body sections

My only problem with ssj4 is that it was supposed to be a transformation of the body. It’s not something magical like a fusion or potara earring.. Kinda like when Gon transformed into adult Gon, his clothes were supposed to get ripped, not change entirely.

Just recently started collecting SH Figuarts mainly for Dragon Ball figures and I'm happy with them. Some do tend to have loose joints out of the box, which is annoying. Makes me feel like it was played with at the factory. Thanks for the review and the factory update. I wasn't aware they had one in Vietnam as well.

Looks like I lost the Figuarts lottery. Mine also has a weak left ankle, though the right one is pretty tight. The head is pretty wobbly too, though it holds a pose well enough for now. I really hope this factory gets it together.

Got my S.H. Figuarts SSJ4 Goku back in April and only loose joints I have is his left foot but it's pretty minor. But, my only problem is that his right leg is pretty tight to move but that could be fixed by using hairdryer or running it on warm water. Overall, he's still looks pretty cool and while he can't stand for long periods of time, I'll just get the Figuarts Act 4 stand.

Because it’s true. Some figures have issues some don’t. My sh figuarts cooler has no issues at all. The only figuarts I’ve ever had a slight issue with was first form frieza’s waist joint but that’s a trade off because it’s meant to be separated

Your individual experience doesn't indicate the totally of the broader situation though. Qc issues, by their very definition, aren't universal. Far more people are having loose joints and broken pieces with the Vietnamese releases.

It is my favorite Form in Dragon Ball because it uses the saiyan great ape power. Because Goku is a Saiyan so this form makes sense. So getting this figure is a really good deal for me.

I never liked SS4 as a kid, it looked too different. It didn’t look like the next logical step after SS3. But for some reason in recent years it REALLY grew on me. Now I appreciate how the design is a lot more creative than just making Gokus hair red or blue. In hindsight its a great look for Goku. He looks like the original Monkey King (especially as SS4 Gogeta). If he had the power pole it would look even more so! Plus it references how Saiyans were always monkey people. TLDR; reject godhood, return to monke. This figure looks awesome and I need it now!

The reason the rest of the forms are similar is because they’re proper evolutions of one another, unlike SS4’s who’s design doesn’t make any sense as an evolution of any of the previous SS forms.

Transformers made in Vietnam are riddled with bad QC. That and the excessive use of translucent plastic on vital areas of the figures which becomes very brittle on major.

Yes. I think it was an excellent choice for the next stage in the super saiyan form. It makes sense for the next stage to be tied to the Oozaru, although the tail being necessary for SSJ4 kind of makes the transformation weirdly antithetical to what's needed to achieve Super saiyan.

I know this is an older video and figure but I picked him up last year and man I got shafted.. Mine came with super loose joints in the bicep swivel and THE HEAD. His head does not stay in place and constantly tips back. It's a shame because I LOVE SSJ4 😭

Super Saiyan 4 is one of the best designs in all of Dragon Ball. I think Future Trunks first arrival and Super Saiyan 4 Gogeta are the two best looking *human* character designs in the entire franchise.

tbh i think super saiyan 4 is kinda of a weird design but i think it’s nice they went back to the roots of what it is to be a saiyan. i feel like if somehow he were able to go a sort of non-canon ss4 blue, the fur and hair being blue would look really cool. overall the design is pretty cool though, nothing really too bad and it’s unique.

I've never had a figure arts figure before. I always thought they looked ass. Not to mention the constantly upgraded releases of the same figure. I don't want to buy the same figure 3 times just to get the perfect one I needed. But I might consider buying this Goku, and the upcoming Vegeta.
