Do Snapper Prefer Deep or Shallow water? A Western Port Snapper Special.

The Capt wasn't his usual self today battling sickness but still managed the catch of the day.
We positioned ourselves between some shallow water and deep water to see which side of the boat caught the most snapper.

I am a newbie with a small 30hp quintrex, I want to take my boat out to Western Port, I've been there twice on my own and caught lots of smaller fish but... can someone suggest where I should anchor for better chance of gummy/reddies, in the shallows and cast into crazy fast deep channel?

I think that's the beauty of fishing. Just getting out there and trying different spots for yourself. Some days you'll win and other days you'll lose. I would start with the Willy Weather app, work out the tides for the location you want to fish, and find yourself a nice contour line in the Boating app or Navionics.
