"Among the Living" is one of my all time favorite metal albums. And when you throw in the Hip Hop crossover "I'm the Man" EP you really saw their fun and goofball personalities shine through. They were just guys having fun playing face melting metal.

Anthrax is the band that converted me to a metal head. I was stuck on my parents' music. Not a complaint, my parents both had fucking GREAT taste in music, but, I was massively into Stephen King, and a friend who had been trying to push metal on me, gave me Among the Living, told me the title track is based on The Stand ... then, I found that there were TWO songs based on King books on that album, and the riffs, the lyrics, the solos, the energy, it all just fucking converted me. I'll FOREVER be grateful for Anthrax for introducing a whole new world of music to me

I'd love a longer version of this where we get to actually see what went on in the recording session. For those of us that couldn't journey there for it, even a little bit would be great.

The only east coast big 4 band and they have a sound, image, and lyrical content that sets then a little bit apart from the other 3. To me they are the most pure thrash of the 4 and the punk and hardcore influences come through way more than with the other 3.

Like Scott was saying, their wearing shorts and smiling- I like that about Anthrax. They were/are about having fun. All the other thrash bands can be as serious as they need to be, that's fine, but not very original.
@cuzned13753 жыл бұрын
Yep. They’re just some dudes that happen to make awesome metal. They don’t have an image or a look, they just go out and kick ass. 🤘😖🤘

I started off in music by playing trombone in the jazz band at school then moved to bass and drums. Anthrax was a big factor in me moving to bass and drums.

These recordings are amazing and Anthrax should make their next record at Sweetwater with whoever is engineering these sessions. Reminds me of the clean, live sound of "Greater of Two Evils". Love it. Keep it real.

My all time favorite band since "87" just saw them up here in Minneapolis in August with BLS and Hatebreed. I totally related to these guys early on for our love of Stephen King and comics. Mosh it up fuckers, and come out with a new album already,it's been six years now fellas 🤟🤟😜😜

Jon is a great guitar player but I don't think I've ever seen such a lack of chemistry in a band of that caliber, he just seems like a fish out of water with these guys.
@Jept2 ай бұрын
It is odd to me ... I always get the lackluster session player vibe from him. But I don't know if that's because the core of the band is so tight and inline? But totally feel ya dude!
@abyers7087ify3 жыл бұрын
To me there will always be one anthrax. Joey Belladonna is the secret ingredient. The Bush days were good but I love EVERY album other Joey and only love we've come for you all with Bush. The other albums he did are meh for me.

Metallica keeps trying, Anthrax shows how it's done. Gotta say, Madhouse was missing Mark (I meant Dan, don't ask me) As do we all, I'm sure. Keep killing it guys, been with ya since 86, was so glad to hear Worship Music.

The Sound of White Noise is a solid album and "Only" is one of my favorite Anthrax songs, but it just felt like a whole different band.

@@stevennemeth6256 Agreed! I love the Bush era, but it's not Anthrax.
@itsalwayssomething74903 жыл бұрын
I much prefer the second coming of the Joey era over any era. They are tighter than ever. Their songs sound modern and classic at the same time. It's a blend of 40 years of Anthrax. The last two albums, to me is a double album, and it's a masterpiece. I love every song on them. I don't feel that way about any Anthrax album other than Among the Living.
@matts87083 жыл бұрын
Guitar solo was kinda lame. Spitz ain't even that great, but this dudes solo was blah. Good chords behind that solo sections too, could have done more with it.
