Very creative. Eleanor, you are super-talented. Just finished watching your mirror design as well. Just gorgeous! One thing I would have done here, though is to downplay the drawer knobs. Maybe have little round, transparent crystal ones, instead. I find these bulky dark ones taking over the attention that is due to your beautiful design. Thank you.

another reason to put the clay moulds on wet is that you can mould/bend them to the shape of the dresser and it creates a more organic final result.

Please, spend more time showing off your work. I have to rewind, pause to get a good look. I think going in close with the camera to catch details and moving out to see over all look, even filming in different light would be good. I have looked and looked and I can’t really see anything wrong. Perhaps the flowers to the left of the black pull handle on the middle drawers are different but it may just be that the camera doesn’t show it well. Even if they are different it still looks awesome!! 😊

I had to go over the video as I couldn’t remember what I’d done wrong I’d Claude the drawers in the wrong order for how they fit in the unit so had to remove the clay and start again 🤣

Love this technique ! I really want to try it but can you tell me how resilient the motifs are ? Do they crack or break off the units ? Do you seal them ?
@redesignwitheleanorfurnitu85763 жыл бұрын
I’ve not had any break or fall off if they dry to quickly they can crack and once I’ve painted over them I will wax them with the rest of the piece

MS.E....What do you mean by WAXING? What product do I use to do that? I dilute some gorilla glue and paint over the clay....they seem to turn out harder w No cracks BUT they can turn yellow-ish...which I have no concerns bc I'm painting it anyways! Can I ever use Modge Podge?

Love your work, but the knobs throw everything off.Try using Apoxy clay(Amazon) and make your knobs out of the same moulds that you are using... it will just stand out higher, but blend in from a distance. Apoxy clay dries rock hard, perfect for knobs. Just a thought, your stuff is beautiful. 👍😊 Just a second thought... maybe use the bird mould as the knob, that way it looks like it's hovering.🙃

With the questions about drying the clay in the moulds, I wonder if other people are using Was modeling clay since that type won't come out wet. I do d that our the hard way I really had to dig to get it out and then scrub away a lot at the moulds to gets it all. Your clay is white right out of the package so I'm guessing that it's paper clay?
