Insanely fast and large leaf growing plant! I’ve only had it in my care for a few months and already I have two 18” inch leaves that are simply amazing. I live in a cold climate so I keep mine in my ikea greenhouse cabinet with ^80% humidity and ^65 degrees Fahrenheit. I use a moisture meter to tell me when I need to water and that’s usually when it’s at a 3 or 2. I use osmosis water and then top off with general hydroponics nutrient water for added nutrients and fertilizer. I think it would be fine with regular foliage fertilizer but I make nutrient water for my plants in leca so I just use it on my plants in soil as well. (It is safe for soil use as well, it says on the labels of the GH bottles) I really think the GH nutrient water is how I’m getting such fast and large leaves. Regardless, I would highly recommend this plant as a beginner anthurium, as I got it as a beginner as well. 😍 Memo, thanks so much for creating this series. I wish this was around when I was starting my plant journey. It would’ve saved me so much time (and plants) 😅 Love you and your channel!

Awww wow thanks for sharing your story! Yeah I do something similar when fertilising too. I use liquid gold leaf on all my pon plans in a semi hydro dilution and use the same with my aroid mix plants and they seem to love it. Awww super glad uoy are enjoying the series! That is why I am creating it, I would have loved for videos like this to exist when I was first starting with some plants too

I don't own a crystallinum, but I do have a crystallinum X magnificum hybrid which seems to be quite hardy and easy to care for so far. At first, I gave it too much light and it didn't throw a fuss whatsoever, it just wasn't growing much and its leaves were very slowly fading to a paler shade of green. Since I got mine as a young pup in sphagnum moss, I decided to repot it in a chunky mix at the same time as moving it a little farther away from the light and it's been recovering quite fast. What I like the most about this hybrid is how red the new leaves are when they emerge but also how its veins and margins will stay red/pinkish for about a week while the leaf turns to green. That, with the silveriness of the veinations make it a truly striking plant. I can't wait for it to get massive like yours, especially since I've heard some specimens of this cross get even deeper red as they age. As always, thanks for sharing!

This is a great plant to learn about anthuriums with. Mine survived sustained overwatering despite my best efforts to kill it. I did move it to leca from soil and it was very grateful!

Definately agree, it's relatively straightforward, but also a good one to learn about anthurium care, as it can be forgiving too 😊

I agree, this is an easier plant to take care of. With stunning, relatively fast growing leaves, it's really rewarding, and sizes up quickly too. Very forgiving - I've let it dry out a few times and it doesn't care. My plant isn't as mature as yours, so not very heavy, but it's fallen off a 6ft high shelf a few times and you'd never know. I have some slight cold damage on an older leaf (heating was off when I went away over Xmas), but other than that I've had no trouble with it. I have noticed that more light (indirect) gives faster growth, but lower light, although growth is slower, leaves are darker. I have mine in moss and a clear pot, and try to water when there's no obvious condensation near the roots. My flat sits at around 80% humidity, so nothing dries out quickly and I water maybe once every month (will be slightly more as it heats up). I recently put some seedlings in aroid mix so will see how that compares. It's nice to see some well priced seedlings in garden centres over the last few months. Really enjoying your channel Memo - keep up the good work 😀

Definitely doesn't look crossed with forgetii. She looks to be a crystallinum x Magnificum if anything. I've never seen a crystallinum with leaves that big. I'd bet money on her being a Crystal/Mag. She's a beauty!! Update: Crystallinum definitely can get that big! I've seen 2 big ones since I posted this. Emma with Good Growing and Katia (I forget her channel name). I guess I'd have lost my money, lol.

I’ve just bought a small silver blush, which is apparently a cultivar of crystallinum. Only had it three weeks and it’s pushed out quite a large, very healthy new leaf which is great. It’s in moss at the moment, but will likely repot in an aroid mix, or I’m even thinking of attaching it to a piece of tree fern trunk, wrapped in moss, but will see. Great vid 👍

I've had my christals for alomosy a year now. I had a similar experience purchasing my first christal as Memo. I was told it was a Clairanerviam by the seller. I don't mind though now because I absolutely love it. I have mine in self watering in a net pot for air flow and super chunky mix ( tree fern, orchid mix large, orchid mix small, perlite and worm castings) it really likes it but it needs air flow. When I first got mine as I said before I thought it was a clairanerviam so I let it dry out too much and lost a few baby leaves as they were emerging. I had mine in too bright a spot and the leaves got bleached so be careful of that. It dose flower a lot. Mine was having a difficult time so I put it in a large plastic zip bag and hat was the boost it needed to get going again.

I just purchased my first one. I had no idea that these could throw a hissy fit. I do have several calatheas so I'm bracing myself. 😅

I agree this is an easier faster growing plant. It sized up so quickly for me! Chunky mix with frequent light waterings. Not picky and seems to be pest resistant. Gate way anthurium for sure!

I’m in California, US. I’ve had mine for a year and it’s on the struggle bus. It’s only grown 2 new leaves since it arrived. It doesn’t seem that the leaves are coming in are any bigger that the original 1 leaf. And, it’s only held 1 leaf at a time. It came in soil and so I repotted it in soil. The roots are healthy. But, she just doesn’t seem to want to grow up.

I'm the exact same way, lol! Easy plants don't last long with me. Difficult plants are a breeze. I can't tell you how many pothos and diffinbachia I've killed. My Anthurium, Calathea and Alocasia are thriving. Every time someone says "She's easy" I start sweating, lol.

Wondering why you didn't have a section on general care, and signs of problems, such as curling leafs? Mine has been growing very well, but my newest "perfect" leaf for a while, is now starting to warp and curl a bit backwards. Any idea why this is happening? I don't see any spidermites or other pests on it. Thanks.

Lack of humidity problem
@AquaStevae
@AquaStevae Жыл бұрын
@@sandybbby That was my first guess, but my room stays between 55-65%, which most people say these plants will acclimate to. So I am left wondering if that really is the problem, or something else? I appreciate your reply.
