I really have to stop watching your reviews, since they seem to lead me to make more plant purchases. This one is no exception. New Vittarifolium arrives next week and this is SO your fault 😂🌿💚

@@Houseplantygoodness in all honesty, it’s a plant I’ve had before. I ended up giving to a friend as a gift because she loved it so much. Your video just reminded me how much I missed having one around 😊🌿

I love you and your channel so much! Just have to add that you got the strap leaf anthuriums confused: the Wendlingeri is the one that has the curly inflorescence! It also gets more of a wrinkled texture when it matures. It is also waaaay more expensive (at least where i am). The Pallidiflorum is the one that looks very similar to Vitarifolium but instead is more velvety, and I find it to be more available too. Love all that you do, keep up the good work!

Ahhhhh yes thanks, I knew I was going to get them mixed up, definately way more expensive. Love the corkscrew with that one, if only I could find it for a reasonable price 🤩

Thank you for doing another plant in this series. I don’t have vittarifolium but I do have pallidiflorum which is slightly velvety. That’s why I got it instead of vittarifolium. I think it’s the wendlingerii(?) that has the cork screw inflo? I forget too. So far palliduflorum is very easy care and seems to be a steady grower and is very like vittarifolium in care. It’s funny to hear vittarifolium is not a rare anthurium bc I never see it in the specialty plant shops. Things are getting more diverse for “rare” plants in my area so I will still be looking for it for the right price!

Yep, knew I was going to mix it up 🤦🤦🤦🤦🤦 but yay thanks for sharing your experience 😀 I didn't know it was velvety 😲 very cool

I just got the Pallidiflorum and also for the velvety reason. I love the shimmery look of the leaves. Glad to hear it's easy care

Love your channel and your shared experiences! Your collection is incredible. My vittarifolium (newly purchased) has put 3 inflos within the last 6 months but as he only has 10 leaves I've been cutting them off to encourage daddy's growth. Best of luck with your seedlings 🤞 looking forward to that update 🌿

Thank you. This was great to watch. I just got a baby Vittarifolium with leaves that are about half an inch long. I can't wait to see it mature a bit more - which is probably going to be in a year from now :)

I have become obsessed with strap leaf anthuriums. I have 6 different strap leaf anthuriums. I haven’t had any issues growing the Vittarifolium. I even have some I’m growing from seeds. I can’t wait for mine to get bigger and have long leaves like yours! I love watching all your plant review videos!

Hi Memo, just wanted to say thanks for your reply on your last video. I treated my Caladium with peroxide, (very lightly) and they are cured, (I think.) Really appreciated your help.

RIP my pallidflorum. Long live my vittarifolium! The pallidiflorum was a failed import. The vittarifolium is a baby with kind of chubby leaves, but the last leaf is longer and definitely skinny! I am beyond excited.
@Houseplantygoodness

oh no, sorry to hear about the pallidiflorum, is it a tricky plant or was it just the import? yeah they do start with chubby leaves and then watch them get longer and skinnier 👀

Thanks for all the info! 👏 I’ve had mine for maybe a month or slightly longer 🤔 I think the longest leaf would be around 30cm so I can’t wait for them to get longer! We are in winter though so I’ll be waiting a while. I was a tad confused when I bought it though as it’s in one of those plastic hanging pots that ferns can also come in - that have just the one draining hole in the middle that is raised a little up into the pot. (Hope that makes sense and you know what I mean!) … Does anyone have any opinions about that? Is it going to hold way too much water for anthurium, it’s outside hanging under a pergola - we are subtropical Australia. I only have 2 anthuriums-baloanum and this vitarifolium, so I have almost zero experience with them, and I hope im not overwatering with this style of pot!

New Anthurium Vittarifolium in my care. Can you clarify something regarding hanging high - are you saying as long as part of the leaves are getting sun, it will be ok? It does not need sun at the top? Thanks! Currently it’s just a baby.

The new leaves unfurl upwards before elongating and drooping down, so they can get caught and damaged if the plant isn’t on the top shelf

Anyone experiencing the leaves curling inwards? The newest leaf of mine is currently doing that while others are staying flat 😢

I can’t keep mine stable. It will grow a leaf then eventually it’ll wilt off before beginning to harden. I’ve tried Aroid mixes and now it’s in spagnum moss only. Please help. This has happens for the past 6 leaves.
@Houseplantygoodness
@Houseplantygoodness 2 жыл бұрын
hmmm not sure what is happening there, was the aroid mix staying too wet for too long? I find out of all of my anthurium this is one that likes to kinda dry out, based on very chunky roots.

You mentioned the word PON OR POND quite a bit. What's that medium? I'm in Canada perhaps it's called something else here maybe it's sphagnum moss? Thanks

It is Lechuza pon . A non organic potting medium with lava, pumice and zeolite rocks and some slow release fertilizer .
